REACHING NEW HEIGHTS
In education, as in other activities of human endeavor, progress is an essential quality. An inherent quality of progress is change, and Elizabeth City State University is experienc- ing transformations which guarantee its success as a viable institution of higher education. This Institution is striving to provide its students vi^ith the best facitilites and offerings in the state of North Carolina. The Institution has begun extensive transformation of its facilities. Ground has been broken for a new administration building. Lane Hall is to be renovated.
The offerings of the University have always been under constant scrutiny, but as we go into a new era of human endeavors, the need to update curricula has been recognized, and the means to realize these changes have been put in motion. Elizabeth City State University strives to be the best in the country. This goal is one toward which the University will diligently strive, for "man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's heaven for (Robert Browning, Andrea Del Sarte)7"

To Thcc, dear Alma Mater A tribute song we sing
Of thy true worth to all of us 0 may we honor bring.
