We know Iter brethren (hat thert are difficulties to surmount, bat with the same efforts ye surmount all other difficulties we c«n overcome those in the waj of Sab- ,>ath Schools. To some extent this is true flol why is this tor because we baVe said so much and done so little. This ias beenj 1 mean Sabbath S shoolf, brought to" our attention so often and so ittle done. We* ytoY committee, would urge the rieccsgity of each church in Ms association'baving a Sabbath School. Let « determine in our hearts hat we will teach our children the word of God. APPENDIX C. ftEPORT O* TENPEKA^fCE.
;'i Intemperance is th* curse of otri»' cofttftry, the fell destroyer of virtue, and misery of vice and crime. Wherever we turn onr eyes its bliting influence s to i be seen. It has invaded ear churches multiplying sin, and leading its •ictims to ruin. Arid strange te say some pretenders to religion say ''"lid to harm to make and sip the intoxicating glass «*s a beverage,'' arguing ing diesc times of exhorbitant.prices chat it is a less evil than formerly to make or .lave it made, forgetting tlat they arc commanded to abstain from every ap- ierance of evil, and that Gbd is a. sptvit, and will he worshipped in spirit', (not uriritt) and truth, we offer the following —
j Resolved, That wereconimend our ministers to preach at leest once during ,lie year on that;suhject and further rccoirtnend to our churches to exercise trict discipline with their'members Who shall be guilty. of drinking intoxi- fcting spirits except as a Medicine. N B lltTK?EV, Chairman-

The war that is upon us has suspended many of our most ex- tent publications. It has closed many of our presses for which we lament ■ ^ut while it has done this: it has done one thing for which we rejoice. which profited them not, but prbved actirse. Ue would encourage oiw brethren to the reading of the scriptures, and teachitig them to their chil- dren, and encouraging them to read. We also recommend to our brethren the South Western Baptist published at Tuskeegee, Ala., edited by Bros S Henderson and A J Buttle. This paper brethren is the only Baptist paper published in our State, and has held up under the most trying circumstances. Brethren you all ought to take a religious paper and read and encourage youf children to read. We also woiTld recommend the Banker and Baptist, pub- lished at Atlanta Ga. We also would bring to your notice, some tracts for the soldiers at the Banner and Baptist office: All of which is respectfully sub- mitted. WM. H. WOOD, Chairman. .
