Dear Sir,

I am engaged in publishing a new edition of my book about the Douglas pine

and other kinds of American trees suitable for our forests and should be very
much obliged if you could let me know of any American publications concerning this
subject which might be of use to me or help me in any way. I also should appreciate
knowing the titles of the papers published by you, up to now I only know the very
interesting ones which have appeared in the Gardeners Chronicle. I am enclosing
a note of my good friend Sir J. Hocker who is supporting my request.

Some days ago I spoke with Dr. Bolle in Berlin who sends his greetings.
