Creer, Agricultural Statistician Bureau of Agricultural Economics Montana Building Helena, Montana STATE PUBLISHINS CO., HELENA, MONT. AGRICULTURAL STATISTICS FOREWORD BY THE GOVERNOR My dear Fellow Citizens : Agriculture is Montana's first industrj^ From it the people of this State derive their greatest cash income. Today, Montana stands at the threshold of its greatest development. The future, in my opinion, holds unlimited promise. Great dams are being constructed, Avliich will provide additional irrigated land, and electric power will be generated so that new industry' will be attracted to our State. Agri- culture will continue to be our prime occupation, but our economy will become more diversified as time goes on. One of the aids to the further development of Montana is the collection of statistical information. The Montana Department of Agriculture and the Bureau of Agricultural Economics of the United States Department of Agri- culture have combined their efforts and have tabulated the material for this jMontana Agricultural Bulletin. I believe that this Bulletin is a treasurv of valuable information for everyone concerned with Montana and its productive capacity. I am happy to add my Avord of commendation to those Avho are respons- ible for the preparation of this important study.
