FOR CONGREGATIONAL AND CHOIR USE.
" Let the people praise Thee, O God ; Yea, let all the people praise Thee." — Psalm lxvii. 5.
E. P. DUTTON AND COMPANY.
BOSTON: 135 WASHINGTON STREET.
NEW YORK: 762 BROADWAY.
MDCCCLXIX.
In presenting this Collection to the public, the compiler desires to express his obligations to the Rev. J. S. B. Hodges, D. D., and Messrs. Oliver Ditson & Co. for permission to insert several chants and hymn tunes, composed and arranged by Dr. Edward Hodges, late organist of Trinity Church, New York, to whose example and influence the Church in America is deeply indebted for its great advance in correct musical taste, and whose memory will always be tenderly cherished by those whose cultivated tastes will enable them to appreciate him. Also to Dr. William H. Walter, organist of Trinity Chapel, New York, for chants and tunes now published for the first time.
C. A. D.
Easter, 1868.
Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1868, by
E. P. DUTTON AND COMPANY,
in the Clerk's Office of the District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

2 A gentler stream with gladness still The city of our Lord shall fill,
The royal seat of God most high : God dwells in Sion, whose fair towers Shall mock th' assaults of earthly powers,
While His Almighty aid is nigh.
3 Submit to God's Almighty sway, For Him the Heathen shall obey,
And earth her sovereign Lord confess The God of Hosts conducts our arms, Our tower of refuge in alarms, As to our fathers in distress.

3 Come, with high and holy hymning, Chant our Lord's triumphant lay ; Not one darksome cloud is dimming Yonder glorious morning ray, Breaking o'er the purple East ; Brighter far our Easter feast.
4 He is risen, He is risen ! He has oped th'etcrnal gate; We are free from sin's dark prison, Risen to a holier state ; And a brighter Easter beam On our longing eyes shall stream.
