\^^^ ^"^^ NOMENCLATURJi' eStoLEOPTEROUS INSECTS THE COLLECTION BRITISH MUSEUM. PART VI. PASSALIDiE. LONDON: PRINTED BY ORDER OF THE TRUSTEES. 1852. PRINTED BY TAYLOR AND FRANCIS, RED LION COURT, FLEKT STREET. f t>'^ It o / PREFACE. The object of this Nomenclature is to present a Catalogue of the well-established species of each family, with a refer- ence to where they are figured and a few of the more im- portant synonyma. It is intended for the following purposes : — 1. iVs a list of the species contained in the Museum Collection. They are marked B.M. in the outer margin. 2. To point out the Desiderata of that Collection at the period of publication. 3. As labels for the Cabinet. This list must only be considered as prefatory to a more complete Catalogue. The family Passalid.e is chiefly arranged after the method adopted by Percheron in his first revision pub- lished in Gucrin's Magazine of Zoology, 1841. Mr. Frederick Smith has taken every care in the determination of the species and the references to the synonyma and figures. JOHN EDWARD GRAY. British Museum, 1 September 1852.
