Truly a monumental show setting up the Heartbreaker period. Ryan's comedic talents certainly have improved. After one horrendous crack at it, he spent the whole night trying to distance himself from the blunder. The chatter on the recording gives it a realistic, would that bastard shut the fuck up feeling you'd expect in Austin. These songs are still in their infancy, and by now all of them have reached adulthood except for "Goodbye Honey." Arguably one of his better non-album songs, and the fact it's only been played live twice adds to the mystique. Or something like that. I can see why people really took to "Come Pick Me Up"; this live version is appealing, not only due to the talents of Kim Ritchie, but at this point douchebags hadn't caught on to it. No one here even shouts for him to play it. It's like shit man your really good at your job. Seems kind of arrogant how he kept saying he's going to have to go back to plumbing cause he damn well knew he had the talent. You know Ryan, maybe some of us don't have a trade like plumbing to fall back on. He didn't have to brag about how he's a dual-threat. He'll musically move your brain in a way that makes your heart begin weeping blood, and clean/unclog your toilet. Did I mention this was a two-hitter.
