Wednesday, June 26, 1918 Opening Ceremonies at the Grave, 10 a. m.
Of course, the general public is cordially invited to be present ; but the persons whose names are set opposite the following groups or classes are put in charge of organizing their respective, units, wholly independent of all other units, in such manner and form as may occur best to them, to attend the unveiling ceremonies at Governor Roane's grave. They are requested to take a part on this patriotic occasion at least to the extent of urging persons, who come within the groups or classes they respectively represent, to get together on the morning of Wednesday, June 26th, next, at some indicated point in Knoxville and go down, by automobile or otherwise, in a group to Pleasant Forest Grave Yard, with some degree of order and proper patriotic decorations, in time to arrive there by 10 o'clock a.m.
By each person named contributing a little time and effort the occasion can, in the language of Governor Rye, be turned to good public account at this particular time in American history. Each unit is perfectly free and inde- pendent of all other units, and may meet at its own time and place in Knoxville and move in a body when ready. The run by automobile is thirty minutes or less from Knoxville. Where two or more persons are named for a group, they are urged to meet and plan assistance to the. program, the first person named being the Chairman.
G. M. Smith, Chairman.

Historic Campbell Station
This settlement is fifteen miles west of Knoxville, at a point less than two miles north from the Southern Railway ?it Concord, and on the splendid Kingston Pike ; and is, per- haps, in the richest and most beautiful valley of up-to-date farms and farmers in the State, so noted for generations.
Here is located one of the best educational institu- tions in the South — Farragut High School.
The "Station" took its name from a family long prom- inent in the history of the State, and it was into this fam- ily that Governor Roane married.
Andrew Jackson was often sheltered by the old "Inn" with its belfry, then on the stage road in sight of the Roane grave; and Admiral Farragut in his boyhood days lived and fished nearby.
Pleasant Forest is the community burial and church ground, and has been such back beyond the memory of the oldest citizen, where all, both living and dead, com- mingle without regard to religion or creed. It was in full view of this sacred community plot that Governor Roane lived and died on his estate — Grassy Valley. It is in this old-time cemetery that his remains have been ninety-nine years in an unmarked grave, and where Tennessee, has finally honored his service and memory with a fitting and last- ing granite marker of imposing design and dimension, typical in its simplicity and durability of the plainness and strength of the soldier, jurist and Governor beneath it.
