Next tune, we've got a feature, Preston over here, because I love the way he sings and plays the guitar. That's what I'm talking about. Alright now, alright now. Well, did you ever wake up in the morning just about to break of day? Reach up and rub the pillow while your baby's using it. Lay down, lay down, lay down, lay down, lay down. You feel so bad, you will lay right down and die. You never had blues so bad, you learned your feet to walk. You never had blues so bad, you know it. I forgot to mention Shemika Copeland is one of our musical influences. That's something in particular. I didn't know what I was getting into when I got my first taste of you. You were just what I was looking for. Once I had a little love, had to have more. I wake up morning in the mirror of the night, tell me your name for that sun-ray, when you know I'm so persuaded. Had to have your kisses before I stole everything. You're living on love, that's all you need. Cause you're hungry, you've got to be living on love. I ain't no child, it's the one thing you can't live without. You can have the world, but you're still living on love. Nothing else matters when you're living on love. Nothing else matters when you're living on love. Some folks don't seem to understand. They seem to survive by them touching your hair. I don't need any, I don't need no rest. If I can give my all to you, you're in the next. When I get more down and I feel it grow, we're all through a dream of your loving girl. Makes me feel better, makes me feel strong. Had to have my kisses before I stole everything. You're living on love, that's all you need. Cause you're hungry, you've got to be living on love. I ain't no child, it's the one thing you can't live without. You can have the world, but you're still living on love. Nothing else matters when you're living on love. Nothing else matters when you're living on love. If you love me like you said, why do you treat me like you do? I'm not the type of person to be afraid of you. I'm not the type of person to be afraid of you. I'm not the type of person to be afraid of you. Why do you treat me like you do? If you love me like you said, baby, why do you treat me like you do? Well, I ain't no fool, I'm living like you're the rules. You said you never would run around, you said you'd never stay out late. You said you'd never run around, baby, you said you'd never stay out late. Well, I know I'm pretty brave, and I've got to set you straight. If you love me like you said, baby, why do you treat me like you do? If you love me like you said, baby, why do you treat me like you do? Well, I ain't no fool, I'm cool, I know the rules. I ain't no fool, I'm cool, I know the rules. You said you never would run around, baby, you said you'd never stay out late. You said you'd never run around, baby, you said you'd never stay out late. Well, if it's just good pain, I've just got to set you straight. If you love me like you said, baby, why do you treat me like you do? If you love me like you said, baby, why do you treat me like you do? Well, I ain't no fool, I'm cool, I know the rules. Well, I ain't no fool, baby, I'm cool, I know the rules. Yeah! Alright, put your hands together, we've got a great band tonight. Patrick Buffy on the bass, there he is. Mr. Carl Cooper on guitar and lead vocals, give him some big love now. And Mr. Tony Horton on the drums, they are Stevie Ray Guns. It is a Monday night here at 88 Keys, glad to have you along. It's a Blue's Monday, Blue's to do TV. It's a blue Monday. Blue Monday. Blue Monday. Blue Monday. Blue Monday. Blue Monday. Blue Monday. Blue Monday. Blue Monday. It's got a button. Once was a sweet thing, baby. We paid our love in our hands. Now I reach to kiss your lips, a touch don't mean a thing. And that's a cold shot, baby. Yeah, that's a drag. That's a cold shot, baby. Yeah, we let our love go bad. I really meant I was sorry. For ever causing you pain. You showed your appreciation. For walking out anyway. And that's a cold shot, baby. Yeah, that's a drag. That's a cold shot, baby. Yeah, we let our love go bad. Blue Monday. Blue Monday. That's a cold shot, baby. Too bad. So sad. So right here. Yeah, I don't know about you, but I'm cold, baby. That was a great gun, that was almost tightrope. I'm cold, baby. I'm cold, baby. I'm cold, baby. I'm cold, baby. I'm cold, baby. I'm cold, baby. I'm cold, baby. I'm cold, baby. I'm cold, baby. I'm cold, baby. Whoo, quite a set, guys. Thanks. Yeah. Just getting warmed up. Just getting warmed up, I can tell, I can tell. Let's see, we got Patrick Buffey on the bass. Give him some individual love. Mr. Tony Horton on the drums. Give the drummer some. Give the drummer some. Oh, yeah, they never get enough light, do they? And Mr. Carl Cooper on guitar and vocals. Yeah. All right, so it was nice weather this weekend. I don't know about not staying in the weather. It was pretty decent. And even today was nice. I don't know about tomorrow. But how did you get into Stevie Ray? What was your first Stevie Ray experience? What was your first Stevie Ray impression that made you bite the bug? I was driving to the coast on vacation, listening to Texas Blood. And I just went, man, this is a ripping guitar. So yeah, I'm a big fan of guitar shredders and stuff, heavy metal from my early days. So you had been a guitar player before that, but you all of a sudden saw the light. Yeah, yeah. I just found my way to the guitar. Yeah, I just found my place on guitar. I just relate to the man, yeah. Yeah, yeah, a lot of people do. And then once I started listening to the guitar, I got past that into the lyrics, and there's some amazing fables of life in there, the whole trials and tribulations and the struggles that we all have to face. Well, and he did a lot of growing as an individual. He did a lot of growing, so there was some even deeper. He did Texas Blood and the whole blues thing, and then into his last album was just really, really deep. Family style, the brothers. Yeah, yeah. Beautiful stuff on there, too. Yeah, he definitely grew a lot and shared a lot of his knowledge. What's your favorite Steve Ray Vaughan tune? Oh, I think I like, well, there's a couple. I love Love Struck Baby because I got one. I think Pride and Joy just always gets me because I got wonderful people in my life and they're all my pride and joy. Kids and family and friends, I'm a lucky man. Gratitude out of the bass player tonight. Amen. There's a few of us left, yeah. How about you, Mr. Drummer Man? What's your favorite Stevie Ray Vaughan lick or album or song? You got a fave? Cold Shots and then Voodoo Child. Let's see, we're going into some Hendrix there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's a lot of parallel with Stevie and Hendrix, huh? Yeah, yeah, because Stevie recognized guitar genius. So now, you got a strat. Tell me about your strat. Gear is always important to guitar players. How about you? It's just the strat I picked up. I got a couple of them, yeah. And I had Mike Wold do the plucking last week. It changed, I upped my strings. I'm now using 14s. How about amps? It really takes an extra little muscle to bend those things, you know. But Stevie did it, so hey, I guess it's got some better tone to it. Coming up a notch. I'm trying to move up, yeah, I'm maturing in my string usage. How many years have you been playing? You've been playing this thing a while. How many years? I've been playing since elementary school, actually, yeah. Tony and I have been in like four different bands. Wow. And wrote probably 100 songs or more. Let's talk about originals versus covers. Obviously, it's a tribute, but then when you write an original, are you thinking, okay, this has got to sound like a Stevie Ray Ron song? No, not at all. As a matter of fact, we have yet to actually write original blues. Maybe one or two, we're goofing around, they kind of come out, you know. But we're going to be treading that path soon and write an original album, yeah. The three of us will, yeah. All right, so where do people find out about more? We've got a Facebook.com forward slash Stevie Ray Guns, am I right? Yeah, StevieRayGuns.com, and we definitely are ramping up to do as many shows as we can as soon as possible. We want to do this all the time. This is all we'd ever do if we had the choice, so we're having a good time. StevieRayGuns.com. The best job in the world to play music. So tell me your favorite Stevie Ray Vaughan story, because I know that there's many stories, legacy, myth, whatever, but tell me what story, you've got to have them all. You've got all the books and all the biographies. Yeah, yeah, and a lot of them are not suitable for the general public and the television. He was a hardcore rock and roller. But just last night, no, it was Saturday night, I was at the Hard Rock Cafe, and I saw a really awesome picture of Stevie Ray with some of the others. As a matter of fact, just today I was in American Music over at Bellevue picking up some new pics, and they have the most awesome photograph. I don't know who took it, but it's on the wall of Robert Cray, Eric Clapton, Stevie and Jimmy Ray Vaughan. It's like poster size, it's crystal clear on photographic paper. I just stood there and looked at it for about five minutes going, man, that is just so awesome. What about, you saw him live, didn't you? Where did you see him? No, I never actually saw him live, but I have like every one of his DVDs and all of his albums. I never actually got to... Oh, painful. That must be painful for you. No, I remember the day he died though. And yeah, when I was working, we had a little cadre of buddies and we would always listen to music. And there were some older dudes, and I was kind of younger. And it's like Stevie was that middle compromise of what we could all listen to. Yeah, so we listened to a lot of Stevie, and I remember the day, and we were all really moved and listening to Stevie all week that week. Yeah, it was very moving. He left a mark, didn't he? He left a mark. Yeah, great man. All right, we're going to get a couple more songs out of this band. Stevie Ray Guns, come on ladies and gentlemen, give them some love. Come on ladies. Come on ladies. Come on ladies. Come on ladies. Come on ladies. Come on ladies. Come on ladies. Come on ladies. Come on ladies. Come on ladies. Come on ladies. Come on ladies.
