TO THE SEADER.

t. The Ordinary Refponfes are done in Notes, that are intended to fignify no exatt Meafure, onely the {quare black motes (or Bricues.) are put, where the fyllables are to be Sung flower then the other.

2. The beginning of all , is the clofe of rhe Doxologye of the Lords Prayer , which in Order doe immediatly precede © Lord open thou our lipps ec. Onely to thew , that whatever Tone ended chat Prayer, the Prieft isto begin O Lord open ec. a Note lower,and fo on, according as *tis fet downe.

3. There are two Clifes to affift the fancy of young beginners, who may have learned the Grounds of Song by one, and not by the other. Asalfotoferve for the Bafe, as wellas Countertenor voyce of {uch as officiate.

As for the three Tunes, which are put downe in Black notes for Foure parts, and miay ferve for Magnificate, & Nunc dimittis at Evening as wellas Te Deum, & Benedidin in the Morning fervice, Thofe, (as alfo the Letany, and Veni Creator that follow in foure parts) may éafily be ordered to be plaid on the Organ to the Quire, ifchere be any one, that can prick out the upper, and lower parts, one over againft another, and hath but fo mich ability only, as to playa Pfalme from Notes.

The Compoition of Veni Creator, was tranferibed out of Ravenfcrofts toure part, Pfalmes. Only the Plain fong puc im che upper part in ftead of the Tenor.
