Museum -'■■----■ i< Cambridge, Massacbu.- MARSHALL'S UNIONID TYPES or TYPES OF RECENT AND FOSSIL UNIONACEA AND MUTELACEA INTRODUCED BY WILLIAM B. MARSHALL, INCLUDING A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF ALL OF HIS WRITINGS ON MOLLUSKS. By Richard I. Johason William B. Marshall (1865-1957) was, as a young maa, em- ployed by the New York State Museum, Albany, New York where he began publishing on the local Unionacea. Later he became associated with the National Museum, where he remained until retirement. With the exception of his last paper published in the Journal of the Washington Academy of Science, all of Marshall's new genera and species were published in the Pro- ceedings of the United States National Museum. All his types are in the National Museum. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Special thanks are extended to Drs . Joseph Rosewater, Joseph P. E. Morrison and Harald A. Rehder of the National Museum of Natural History who, over the years, have been most liberal in allowing me access to the unionid types in their charge. Thanks are also due to William B. Marshall who left a card catalogue of his works and types which greatly facilitated the present work. BIBLIOGEIAPHY OF WILLIAM B. MARSHALL'S WRITINGS ON MOLLUSKS I 1887.
