I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Bicycle Day. Today is the anniversary of our dear friend Dr. Albert Hofmann's infamous bicycle ride after he dosed himself.

Enjoy!

I rode a bicycle a few times while on acid. The days were really nice, like late-April-early-May-kind-of-nice. The feeling of moving along at a leisurely pace with a slight breeze against your skin was great. Oh how I miss psychedelics---though I couldn't think of doing them anymore, it takes too much out of you for days afterward.

and further more....

I rode my bicycle past your window last night
I roller skated to your door at daylight
It almost seems like you're avoiding me
I'm okay alone, but you got something I need

Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key
I think that we should get together and try them out you see
I been looking around awhile
You got something for me
Oh! I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key

I ride my bike, I roller skate, don't drive no car
Don't go too fast, but I go pretty far
For somebody who don't drive
I been all around the world
Some people say, I done all right for a girl

Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key
I think that we should get together and try them out you see
I been looking around awhile
You got something for me
Oh! I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key

I asked your mother if you were at home
She said, yes .. but you weren't alone
Oh, sometimes I think that you're avoiding me
I'm okay alone, but you've got something I need

Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key
I think that we should get together and try them out to see
La la la la la la la la, la la la la la la
Oh! I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key

The bicycle, the bicycle surely, should always be the vehicle of novelists and poets. ~Christopher Morley

Why should anyone steal a watch when he could steal a bicycle? ~Flann O'Brien

When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race. ~H.G. Wells
....Especially if that adult is tripping his balls off

When I go biking, I repeat a mantra of the day's sensations: bright sun, blue sky, warm breeze, blue jay's call, ice melting and so on. This helps me transcend the traffic, ignore the clamorings of work, leave all the mind theaters behind and focus on nature instead. I still must abide by the rules of the road, of biking, of gravity. But I am mentally far away from civilization. The world is breaking someone else's heart. ~Diane Ackerman

Get a bicycle. You will not regret it if you live. ~Mark Twain, "Taming the Bicycle"

Mankind has invested more than four million years of evolution in the attempt to avoid physical exertion. Now a group of backward-thinking atavists mounted on foot-powered pairs of Hula-Hoops would have us pumping our legs, gritting our teeth, and searing our lungs as though we were being chased across the Pleistocene savanna by saber-toothed tigers. Think of the hopes, the dreams, the effort, the brilliance, the pure force of will that, over the eons, has gone into the creation of the Cadillac Coupe de Ville. Bicycle riders would have us throw all this on the ash heap of history. ~P.J. O'Rourke

I've got a bike
You can ride it if you like
It's got a basket
A bell that rings
And things to make it look good
I'd give it to you if I could
But I borrowed it

You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world
I'll give you anything
Everything if you want things

I've got a cloak
It's a bit of a joke
There's a tear up the front
It's red and black
I've had it for months
If you think it could look good
Then I guess it should

You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world
I'll give you anything
Everything if you want things

I know a mouse
And he hasn't got a house
I don't know why
I call him Gerald
He's getting rather old
But he's a good mouse

You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world
I'll give you anything
Everything if you want things

I've got a clan of gingerbread men
Here a man
There a man
Lots of gingerbread men
Take a couple if you wish
They're on the dish

You're the kind of girl that fits in with my world
I'll give you anything
Everything if you want things

I know a room full of musical tunes
Some rhyme
Some ching
Most of them are clockwork
Let's go into the other room and make them work

How's life and the leg these days? Sox leading the division, while still early, is always a welcome tonic no doubt!

speaking of baseball, what if Baseball followed a Football type of schedule, just 16 games in a season, one a week.
Why not? It would make it more interesting imo. Instead of the plus 100 that baseball hazzzzzzz-zzzzzzzzzzz

Cool. Maybe expand to one series a week. Play every team in your division once at home, one away. Add a couple inner city rivalries (Cubs/Sox, Yanks/Mets) just to round the season out. Let the ace pitchers throw 1/3 of the games.
