I was perusing the content in my cache and checking the detailed status page and I noticed illegal content containing videos in one of the caches I run. What is freecache.org doing to stop people from mirroring illegal content. I currently run 2 fairly heavily used caches and it looks like only one of them had illegal content. I cleared the cache to purge the problem, but the user just abused the service again by uploading the content again. I know freecache.org cannot be responsible for uploaded content, but there has to be some sort of content management system to make sure freecache doesn't turn into just another way to hide illegal content.

We have a non-public feature that allows us to remove content with one click. I'll gonna make that public.

In the mean time, please let us know the file(s) in question.

Thanks.

All registered users can now request the removal of files. All requests are being logged.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that freecache can't be used to *hide* content, legal or not. The originating website is visible in the URL and must remain up or freecache will stop caching the file. If the content really is illegal presumably it will eventually disappear from the originating website.

it's not that hiding the files is the problem, it's the huge spike in bandwidth from the files. I am currently sending out about 40Mbps on one of my caches due to a popular(?) 400MB file. I don't mind sharing the bandwidth for something useful like archive.org or the mars rover stuff, but this is ridiculous. If you look at the detailed stats page, you'll see what i'm talking about.
