One more tip
just type unzip
then drop your file onto the Terminal window and it fill it in for you.
Just save a little time and typo.

unzip the_name_of_your_arhive
The command line unzip included with OS X is faster and has never failed me. unstuffit and apple's builtin GUI BOMArchiveHelp frequently fail.

Panther (OS X 10.3) added zipping and unzipping to the OS. If you double click on it BOMArchiveHelper should unzip it. You shouldn't even need StuffIt Expander.
You also trying dropping it on the BOMArchiveHelper icon. It's located here
/System/Library/CoreServices/BOMArchiveHelper.app
