Will the same thing happen to LMA as it did speedingarrow.net? Perhaps eventually?

LMA is run like a municipal public library, it is an artist-friendly archive that seriously respects copyrights and artist's rights. SpeedingArrow was good while it lasted but was run more like the Avalon than the Fillmore if you catch my drift; they tried to keep it above board but it was too easy to grab sb's - too open when LMA (circa 2006) was no longer allowed to provide downl'ding access with the GD sbs. Though SA tried to advise borrowers to be respectful, e.g. not to post hot links elsewhere, no doubt the sheer quantity, easy dl access and relatively high profile led to uncontrolled (post 2006) misuse by who knows who, which inevitably attracted Rhino's attention... thus after ample time for availability the curtain was discreetly lowered. We can't have that happen here, because LMA is a true sanctuary for the largest body online of publicly shared music archives. Done with respect to the artists rights first and foremost. But the stalking horse tramples flowers along with sods... justice is blind. New regulations are on the horizon. Will the preserve last? The best back-up is your own mind. They can't shut down dreaming, lest sources go offline. Listen to the music playing in your head, if streaming is not allowed. Sing out loud in solitary, brothers - should it come down to that. Your ears and some other cell next door could hear the sound. The cops may holler "shut up" or even beat you, but the music never stops... pray all or only you still share live songs to fill the air, and revive our lonely hearts.

Some azzholes even posted these links to banned SBDs on Dead.net. Speeding arrow and others weren't gonna last much longer. Diana is correct in not posting things from Rapidshare here either; because they're making noney off of the music.

" CousinKix frequently refers to an interview where Jer entertains the idea of marketing the sbd's (as early as 87?) too bad they didn't get around to it before they lost his good sense of direction."

You can find this Garcia, Gans, Healy and others BS session on one of the KPFA Greek Theatre broadcasts in 1987 or 88. It was the Saturday afternoon show between sets...
