I am having a big problem with the new Flash Player that was recently added to stream shows. It worked fine the first couple of days, but now it will not open for me and I just see a sign saying I need to install Adobe Flash Player. I already HAVE Adobe Flash Player installed! I even clicked on the "downoad Flash Player" link and still get nothing. Anyone else here having a problem with it?

Yes...same problem.
Infact when I d'loaded it the first time it installed nicely but would not play.
I opend an archived show today and it was telling me I needed to install again.
Then the problem you described occured.
What's up?

Please log your feed back in the official thread for the new player here:

http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=192572

for what it's worth, I have the same problem a little bit where the page will load with that 'you need this player install' message box but then will snap to have the read player there no problem, with me not doing anything additional.

I'm sure all the bugs will be worked out soon!

Tyler

Having the same problem. The bad thing is I can't go back to using the other player. I even installed registry correction software and that didn't work. I hope someone fixes this.

I finally got it to work by switching my browser from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox.

Is there a way I can just go back ot the old player? It does not show that it is an option? Thanks

Somewhere in this thread somebody gave a clue, but not a really good direction. I'll probably do no better here, but I'll try...

Until they fix it, when your show page is up, go to the browser bar and append immediately to the end of the show name &newflash=0. Hit enter and the old, familiar embedded player should appear.

"Until they fix it, when your show page is up, go to the browser bar and append immediately to the end of the show name &newflash=0. Hit enter and the old, familiar embedded player should appear". So in simple, non-PC jargon, do you mean at the end of the http:// yadda-yadda (browser bar = where the address goes??) and at the end of the address add a "=0" ?? Example: http://www.archive.org/details/gd1977-05-25.sbd.miller.87539.sbeok.flac16=0 ??? Please, in easy english!, I'm no propeller head-haha. I don't even understand what append means! and wtf is a "browser bar" ?

Here's my example, and who knows, you might even like the band!

like this, the page loads without the player
http://www.archive.org/details/Awry2008-05-03.SBD

like this, the page loads with the player
http://www.archive.org/details/Awry2008-05-03.SBD&newflash=0

see, the only difference is the &newflash=0 added (appended!) to the end!

Paz y amore!

Now wait a minute. I can't get my damn post to display without a stupid dumb-ass "colon" (no pun intended!) to fracture the link. The point is, there's no colon! just put the

&newflash=0

right on the end of the page's address

Peace. Pura vida!

There is a link under every one that says "Go back to using the old player" and has a link here:

http://www.archive.org/details.php?identifier=audio&newflash=0

good luck.

Where is the link? There is not a link below every message which indicates I need the flash player. There is also no link to go back to using the old player on the link provided. Where Is It?

I agree, no link - no link! The flash player does NOT work or seem to exist after we DL it- and all we get is this messege >> Internet Archive's in-browser MP3 player requires the Adobe Flash Player. It appears that you do not have it installed. this post is true >> http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=193712

So....i clearly have the same problem a lot of you are having...After installing the new flash player I cannot listen to any audio files because the message about the mp3 player requiring adobe flash does not update to reflect I have it installed.

Is there an actual fix for this yet without switching to a different browser other than IE? Thanks.

Flash sems to be a problem on Firefox and Opera also. I've spent hours trying to get it to work consistently. I've taken to to downloading and playing files, if available, in another format.
The Adobe site is of little use also, everyone is scratching there heads, although I had a little luck roaming through there forums.
