Looks like we were a few days 'late' from my Memorial Day prediction, but there it is all the same! 50,000 individual shows by 2924 bands!

Project starts in aug/sept 2002 ...

I predict 55,000 by January 1, 2009. Let's keep this project rolling! 60,000 by next memorial day? we'll see! so much of the recorded library out there for all bands is already up on archive.org, the next 10,000 would have to be mostly new stuff. get out there and ask your favorite band if they are okay with sharing their live recordings on archive.org's Live Music Archive project!

Yeah folks, even your favorite *local* bands! San Diego, Baltimore, San Francisco, Boston, Pittsburgh are nicely represented already- and how about your town?

Absolutely this. Most of what I've contributed are bands that came and went in Boston and Cambridge, and my recordings are the only ones ever made. Several people have told me they were always happy to see me at the show because they knew it would be preserved.
Get out there and ask. I only had one guy say no of all the ones I asked if I could record their show. Most were were thrilled that someone was that interested in them.

We in Austin are doing what we can. We need to get more local Austin acts up here on the LMA.

Thanks again Tyler, Diana, Matt, and everyone at etree. Thanks to all the masterful Masterers like Charlie Miller, Kevin Tobin, and Hunter Seamons. And thanks to all the Great Tapers.

There's still plenty of old Tapes out there. Please do not overlook these or discount this fact. Some of these are Gems. It took awhile for me to Publish most of my best Tapes. That was only recently. And I'm just one guy. MOTB epitomizes this principle. Thanks fellas.

And a BIG THANKS to all The Boys.

Thank you, all.

Hurray for the commons, a big healthy commons.

absolutely stunning - THAT is a lot of music! any advice for a virgin wanting to tape local bands? I'm talking real basics i.e. first piece of equipment to lug to a show?
