All right WHARFRAT and bluedevil, now you've done it with your positive comments on 1984. Been working on a best of 80's list for awhile - so I'll just daringly offer my top ten for a very unpopular year - 1984 !!
No particular order -

1. 11/2/84
2. 10/20/84
3. 10/9/84
4. 10/12/84
5. 7/4/84
6. 12/31/84
7. 6/30/84
8. 4/1/84
9. 4/21/84
10. 5/8/84

If you're into the 80's at all, I guarantee you'll enjoy each and every one of these shows. Some great Shakedowns, China>Riders, Help>Slipknots and Wharf Rats.

Talk amongst yourselves while I reload ... .** *** ~~@@

Dr. Flashback :-)

"Been working on a best of 80's list for awhile - so..."

I'm interested, esp for the Tiger guitar period, having spent so much time in '68-74.

thank you doctor, for your diligence and research; had a lot of '84 tapes back in the day, it's not really my year for shows, however, i have been stumbling across a good one more often than not of late; here's one that is not on your list, but that for some reason, i really, really enjoy:

I think I liked 4/20 with the great Scarlet > Fire best, but I forget most of those shows. probably time to jump back in ....

Indeed (Jack Straws). Both 7/15 (see above) and 4/20 could easily be included in my list, and were hard contenders.

I'm full aware this year is full of uninspired, if not sloppy shows. Jerry was deep into the Persian, and his playing often
suffered.
Nonetheless, the good shows when the magic worked shine out even brighter, IMHO, and I've always been a 1984 fan.
See if the Wharf Rat from 11/2/84 doesn't shiver your timbers. Brent's B-3 playing is over the top.

yes, the 11/2 Wharf Rat. shivers indeed.

I went through 12/31 on Saturday, and that's a pretty good show. the Baby Blue is one of my favorite performances of the 80's, and the Fire, while not a best ever type, gets an A+ for the heroic effort alone.

I'm confused - does the Headmaster consider this a proper topic for forum posting?

Irvine 4/7/84 is another decent show from the spring tour. The Sailor > Saint > Deal ending the 1st set of 6/30/84 kicks ass too. The Friday and Sunday Greeks are on my list too...

Thanks, Dr! I'm an unabashed fan of '84 (I know we're all partial to our heyday), and I appreciate your suggesting some non-obvious choices in the mix.

I'll add a few to your list (though I'm not suggesting they're any better than your top 10):

6/10/84
6/14/84
7/13-15/84 (obvious, I know)
10/11/84
10/14/84
10/17/84

Had a listenable AUD copy of this forever and now there's a remaster/rework/digital modification that a few cats around here are so good at.

Great show, made better thanks to the hard work of folks round here.

Muchos Gracias
