I took these down and was only just informed that they were still available here, and I was wondering what I should do/if anyone can help? I tried the email address a couple of days ago with no luck, and I believe I can't include the robots.txt file as I have already taken them down and in any case was not the webmaster for all of them.

I wrote all of these stories, so though they're not under copyright, I do feel I should have a choice as to whether they're archived places or not. I have read the removal policy guidelines.

Here are the links:

I'd be terribly grateful for some help!

Sarah

I have now received legal advice and as the writer I actually do have copyright. Could you please, please take these down as soon as possible.

Hello Sarah!

Unfortunately, the IA won't just remove websites at request, because they can not be sure that you are the person who you say you are. Did you try to have the robots.txt files altered of the sites you listed? The 404 page of fictionalley/schnoogle gives help@fictionalley.org for general help. Also, the contact page of koanju.com gives koanju@gmail.com and loupsdeguerre@aol.com.

There do not seem to be any 'snapshots' of quills.spak.org/viewuser.php?uid=38 or your LiveJournal. Those may appear later however, or not. If those pages weren't linked to on other websites, changes that Wayback's spider got her hands on them are small.

I'm sorry I can't help you any further than that. I have only one other idea left: if you are able to have the robots.txt files changed of fictionalley/schnoogle and koanju, then perhaps that will convince someone working at the IA that you are indeed the genuine Sarah ;-). Sucks... but it's the only thing I can think of.

Best of luck,
Face

Er. *blinks* This does utterly and completely suck. Honestly, I can't believe this site can keep and show files I've taken down against my explicitly expressed wishes.

If anyone needs proof I am the genuine Sarah, my email address is listed in all of these files, and I can reply to them?

If nobody will even do that for me, can the robots.txt file be altered even though the stories are down? If so, I'll try to get them altered, and then I hope to God someone here will listen to me.

"If anyone needs proof I am the genuine Sarah, my email address is listed in all of these files, and I can reply to them?"

Now why didn't I thought of that... *facepalms in shame*

Let's see:

- schnoogle states "mayahearthwoman@hotmail.com".
- forums.fictionalley.org/park/member.php?action=getinfo&userid=4144 states no e-mail, but gives "mayahearthwoman" as your AOL and Yahoo messenger nick.
- lasairandmaya.com gives "mayahearthwoman@excite.com".
- mistful.livejournal.com/profile/ gives "sarahreesbrennan@gmail.com".
- quills.spak.org/viewuser.php?uid=38 gives no e-mail, but states www.lasairandmaya.com as your homepage.
- nasalley gives another "mayahearthwoman@excite.com".
- lasairandmaya.koanju.com seems to be a mirror of lasairandmaya.com.
- www.schnoogle.com/authorLinks/Maya/ was your profile page on schnoogle (see the first point of this list). It now redirects to fictionalley.

Yep, it seems all very likely to me that this work is all yours. Someone should mail those three addresses for confirmation, and then just remove your pages.

But, as you said, it is questionable if anyone in the position to do that will read this any time soon. The last time I saw an IA developer on this forum was more than a month ago (www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=211552).

Um - yes, that is bad news. No answer from both the email addresses I have tried!

Thank you for trying to help, though. I've emailed fictionalley and haven't heard back on whether it's possible to change the robots.txt file when the stories have been taken down - I hope I will.

5 days has passed without reply. Apparently no one checks that address. Sheesh. Such an important website, and so little support...

Because we are getting no reply, I have send an e-mail titled "Deletion request at the Wayback Machine forum" to info@archive.org, pointing at this topic and explaining the situation. Hopefully the mails to that address are better checked than this forum is.

Send (by postal certified mail) a DMCA takedown request. If you are the copyright owner of the works, you can do that and they can't really deny your request.

There's an example of a DMCA takedown request here:

Never mind. I just discovered that the pages in question are blocked! ;-)

I'm very happy that the problem is solved. A little notification of it would have been nice, however.

Hi Sarah,

I have the same problem as you.

There are copyrighted images on my website
http://www.wellness-heaven.net
whose short-term licenses regularly expire.

Some of those images are archived at archive.org, however.
In addition, we produce copyrighted text for our hotel guide, which nobody should copy on his website, including archive.org.

I already blocked iarchiver via htaccess.

But I would like to ask the archive admins to remove _all_ entries concerning www.wellness-heaven.net

Sarah, you seem to have been successful.
Where exactly did you send the email to? And what was your request?

Please help, thanks.
