Almost every time I check in here I am amazed at the depth and breadth of knowledge I find. I get a big inner smile.
Folks like you make this place what it is.
Thanks again.

That's a remarkable-sounding jam in the 7/7/69 link, I missed that story. Where the heck was Bear, did he stop recording? I wonder if there are other descriptions of that show....

While this next one is a NRPS show played shortly after Pigpen died, it features Jerry, Bobby, Keith & Donna live at Madison Square Garden. It is also a really fine show and worth checking out sometime. Four band members nearly accounts for the whole Grateful Dead, so I think it is worth mentioning.

Jerry & Bobby played a Conneticut Allman Brothers show in July '72 also, and Jerry, Bobby & Ronnie Montrose joined the ABB on 6/9/73 for Mountain Jam during the Allman's closing set.

Guess I should've provided the link, but when I saw that the streaming files were screwed up, I decided not to....
I did look for other accounts of the 7/7/69 jam since that story seemed too good to be true - and found one from a 15-year-old who got some acid from Bear and got so fried he didn't come back to consciousness til the next day - only had a vague memory of Jerry & Duane Allman playing something....
Sounds like the Jerry & the Allmans story could be a whole thread in itself! Kind of like the Dec '70 Crosby recordings, which I thought would be better to discuss separately someday.

A very countrified show with Jerry playing the pedal steel on Slewfoot, Dire Wolf and Green Green Grass of Home and Bobby sings Dire Wolf. Peter Grant is credited with playing banjo on Slewfoot.
A cool intro jam on Casey Jones. Sounds kind like motown to me.

I always wondered why the Archive never arranged this forum into dated folders, like all other forums do. You know how dismaying it is to watch good posts disappear after a couple days, never to be seen again except by the most devoted searchers....
