Forum: web Subject: When I click on archived URL, it takes me to today's current URL. Why?
When I click on the archive of:

www.everett.k12.wa.us

it lists archives going back several years. However, if you click on any of those dates, you go to today's current page, instead of the archived page.

What is happening?
Is there any way that the domain owner/website owner fixed the site so as NOT to show the archives?

Thanks for your help!

Maggie

Yes.

From this point:
http://web.archive.org/web/20040201113226/http://everett.k12.wa.us/
in February 2004, anything prior can be accessed as normal from the Wayback Machine.

After that date, http://www.everett.k12.wa.us redirects you to http://www.everett.k12.wa.us/everett

You can accesss later versions (after Feb 04) by pointing the wayback machine to http://www.everett.k12.wa.us/everett

this is a direct link to the wayback page for that:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.everett.k12.wa.us/everett

hope this helps you in time to save you some hair-pulling.

It doesn't look to me like this is an effort to avoid the page being archived, it's just a webmaster whimsy or something of that sort.
