Re: Copyright Question |
The mechanical inclusion of a watermark is not grounds for a new claim of copyright, but the logo itself could have a trademark applied. Using the underlying public domain work and removing the watermark (blacking it out, blurring it, reframing to conceal it) would not be an infringement of that trademark or copyright logo.
The companies that do this rarely do anything to significantly alter the works they use, beyond copying it off someone elses video or dvd. If they ever do register copyright it is on a "compilation of films" or "repackaging of films."

Re: Copyright Question |
You must really enjoy denying the public. What's it like to be a natural-born a$$hole? Is your daddy one too?

From your comment, it's no surprise that you can't comprehend what you've read.

Re: Copyright Question |
It is a surprise, however, that migre has the knowledge to use a computer well enough to post remarks like that. I think I saw a sci-fi movie about a guy like this once. I think it was called "T'RD, THE THING FROM URANUS".

Re: Copyright Question |
How exactly is providing instructions on a legal way to circumvent an attempt to gain copyright on a public domain work "denying the public"?

Re: Copyright Question |
He is just doing his best to inform interested uploaders and downlorders the ways and means of copyright law (which
people like yourself) just do not fanthom. This site has been maintained since 2005 and his expertise has helped numerous people over the course these years. In order to maintain this site, rules of downloading should be observed and w/o these rules or guidance, this site would be gone. I praise your caring VideoCellar! Keep up the good work. Thank you for being here!
