For Pa. I'd go with 2/15/69 or 9/21/72 depending on my mood.

I'd say 11/25/73 should be the show for Arizona, but I would yield to Tell if he thinks another show in his home state is better. It would be great if the Archive could get the 12/4/1971 Felt Forum filler out of this set. http://www.archive.org/details/gd73-11-25.sbd.sacks.2213.sbeok.shnf

And I nominate this for Alaska:

Oh, you mean STATE. Starting at the alphabetical top, and posted on another thread today, this gets the nod for Alabama:

I agree with DeadRed1971: 1977-May-17 is the best Ala. show (and one of my just general favorites from a month of favorites.)

But, I would be remiss if I didn't also mention 1980-April-28, especially this MOTB http://www.archive.org/details/gd1980-04-28.fob.glassberg.motb.0040.88858.sbeok.flac16 . If you like this era and the songs of this era, this MOTB is crystal-clear and downloadable.

State, as in drunken, stoned, or tripping?

Great topic! In Oregon mine would probably be 10-2-77.

This Betty board is a favorite even tho Jerry is mixed a bit low. But theres a whole lot of other contenders. Springers 1969, Coliseum 1974, the Paramount breakout shows in 1976, Coliseum 1980, Veneta 1972 & 1982, The Hult 1983, and several great Autzen shows in the 80's and even 90's.

But the Casey Jones in 10-2-77 embodies what I love most about the band. Jerry screws up the lyrics (it had been a while since they played it) and then they more than redeem the song with some wonderful instrumentals. Potential disaster to magical redemption! Thats the Grateful Dead!

Even more than Olde Renaissance Faire Grounds? Wow! I know Dick Latvala said they were out of tune, but I can't tell by my trained ear. The Dark Star is unreal. Well anyhow, this is a fave pick of mine from my home state of Maryland: http://www.archive.org/details/gd1973-03-26.sbd.miller.34787.sbeok.flac16 Sorry, I couldn't go for the early '80s Merriweather Post Pavilion thunderstorm show. What's available here for that day really fails to move me.

Well DR you might have me on that Veneta 72 show. I may be prejudiced by having been at the 77 shows but not at Veneta 72. But its two different eras, two different sounds. It's like picking your favorite child. You love them all.

I've gotta listen to your Maryland pick. I would have expected the 4-19-82 show with the Raven Jam. Thanks.

Excellent Maryland pick! That Truckin'> WRS> Jam> Wharf part is spectacular.
