O.K., here goes. I have a WZ show from 1990 that I want to upload. However, this is my first time uploading using ftp and I want to learn how to do it the right way. First, I have a shntool batch file which the admin over at Trader's Den created that outputs shntool md5s into the source folder. I don't think this functions as a sbe check, though. I've read various FAQs (here, etree, trader's den) and they only confuse me more. What is the easiest setup for checking/fixing SBEs? Second, I keep getting timeout errors when I try to upload (I did this before I learned about having to fix SBEs. I use SmartFTP -- can someone outline what my settings should be? Thanks in advance for any response.BTW, I'm running Windows XP on my machine.

Search the forum for "SmartFTP Queue" and you should return a bunch of posts with instructions to fix this.

Brad,
You might want to add this to your list of useful (or in this case indispensible)programs:

What is the easiest setup for checking/fixing SBEs? 1. Separate the audio files into folders by set performed (i.e. 2 folders of "set1" and "set2+encore"). The separating criteria is where the tape was stopped. If set 2 and the encore are seamless, then you want the files for all of that in the same folder when fixing SBE's. 2. Open a command prompt and change the working directory to the first set of files you want to look at. 3. Run "shntool len *.wav > output.txt". This will create an output file called "output.txt" in the folder with the files containing info about sector boundaries. If you remove the "> output.txt" from the command it will just output it to the command window. 4. If you need to fix anything then just run "shntool fix *.wav" from the same folder. 5. Make sure you document your work in the info file for the recording. -Brad
