VERY surprising to find these on the Prelinger site:

Ouch. If you see something suspect in the Ourmedia collection (the items are *not* in the Prelinger collection), please report it to them here ASAP: http://ourmedia.org/help/report-abuse They also have Live Moderator Support through IRC: http://ourmedia.org/node/6395 Here are their rules for content: http://ourmedia.org/rules I bet they could use some extra moderators if anyone wants to help: http://ourmedia.org/help/moderators

Do the curators here screen through the Ourmedia entries, or are they automatically added?

Just to make this clear, the Ourmedia section is policed by the Ourmedia folks - you need to go to Ourmedia.org and report suspect item through their reporting system - though if it's very bad, mention it here and we'll pass it on.

However, all the other collections are still policed by Archive curators, so please leave something on the messageboard or mail info@archive.org.

But content coming from OurMedia is merged with the Open Source Movies section, isn't it? Do the Ourmedia staff have access equal to IA curators, can they do anything here?

And yes - has there been any further discussion on having the OurMedia content as a subcategory of the OSM rather than all blended in one?

Like a quarantine? ;)

Well yeah, you took the words out of my mouth. There are concerns over the dramatic difference in the effort taken and subsequently the quality of clips in the original IA category and the OM additions. I believe I am not alone with the suggestion.

Why don't we set up a poll and see what the world out there would prefer?

Actually, to be clear, the Ourmedia material does _NOT_ appear in the Archive's Open-Source Movies section. It's accessible via this screen: http://www.archive.org/details/ourmedia So you can, at least, tell which items have been Archive-curated and which Ourmedia-curated. But hopefully we can work to resolve this at some point. Ourmedia items will show up on site searches, obviously. [And yes, Ourmedia curators can remove Ourmedia items from their section of the Archive site. One of the reasons that Archive admins don't do it, even if we have time, is that Ourmedia has item 'nodes' that also need removing/affecting, and Archive admins don't have access to these.]

Oh, they don't? Didn't they at one point go there? How do you navigate to that page, I can't seem to see it under Moving Images anywhere?

so the ourmedia stuff, when video-related,
lists "mediatype == MovingImage" (dublin core type)

whereas the non-ourmedia stuff, when video-related,
lists "mediatype == movies".

so only items with "movies" mediatype end up anywhere in the "www.archive.org/details/movies"
parts of our website.

the ourmedia stuff has to be found via the search engine, or the details/ourmedia page listed in a prior parent post.

Oh Simon, here's a related problem then: if we stumble over an item here (which is probably how most of us do), how do we find the ourmedia *node* that needs to be reported there? So far I've been guessing a keyword and searching over there, but for instance in this likely copyright violation to check into: http://www.archive.org/details/Signs the keywords I might pick are too broad.

Good question. You just have to report it using the Archive name, and get those guys to work out the node, I guess?

Simon's correct. We've generally been able to find the item on our site if we know the IA identifier.
