Forum: etree Subject: Recommendations for "best of" Dead tunes

Hi...

I'm trying to put together a kind of "best of" of songs available from shows on this excellent site, and would appreciate recommendations for any kick-ass versions (inlcuding good sound quality) of the following:

Birdsong...preferably one that stretches and contains amazing garcia riffs.

Esau...Row Jimmy...Cassidy (the longer the better), Shakedown, and Ramble on Rose.

Any and all help appreciated!

Row Jimmy: 6/14/91 is a majestic version and is my favorite. The fatman delivers, great midi horn sounds in this one. And I'd have to agree that 8/16/91 is a special show. Maybe not top 5 but the Dark Star in the first set and Scarlet>Victim>Fire are beautiful.

Ramblin' Rose- 10.17.74 (Great Scarlet, too).
Shakedown- 9.16.78 Egypt, not fully developed (2nd time played), but Jerry jams off into the dunes on a camel. One can hear the influence of local refreshments on this one.
