This article, which we must all remember was sanctioned by the members of the gd, proves those bastards don't give a damn about us. They became "rock stars"; free drugs, sex and affection went to their heads. The values they say the IA didn't represent are the values they lost in their popularity trip. Learn from this lesson people, embrace your own spirituality and never deviate from those principles which make you what you want to stand for. Thank you Diana and every one of you out there who made the IA possible. Damn those who destroyed it and our foolish belief in them.

I did read the article, and it does seem that having 2600 dead shows in nice form ready to download just scared the crap out of these guys. Their nest egg in jeapardy as time marches on they realized they could not CONTROL the flow, which they themselves started, ie the betty boards, the healy boards, the tapers section. I will say however, that when I first came upon this web site about a year ago, I was astounded!!! I am sad, but not at all surprised they shut it down...

Y'all - we cannot give up - please pass this message to anyone you know (or don't) and ask them to petition (the link is in the article): http://www.nytimes.com/2005/11/30/arts/music/30dead.html

Thanks again Diana!

I just can't believe it's come to this. IA isn't about "community"? And it's wrong to have assembled a "Deadhead's deam collection"? Weren't dreams part of what made the Dead experience so very very special??

When I first heard the news, I really did feel that the band was right to pull the boards; I guess I was hoping they'd do the right thing and create a similar site where people could still download whatever they wanted for a small fee (a buck or 2 a disc), with some of the proceeds going to the Rex Foundation. That they'd use the music to create a greater sense of good, like they'd always done before. Allow us to continue to support the band AND do a good thing at the same time, you know?

After reading this -- this slap in the face to all I believed the band stood for -- I am joining the boycott as well, until they fix this mess. I just can't believe that they are taking a public, massive dump on the 40 year legacy they worked so hard to create.

So, Boys, if you see this: Good luck ... it was fun while it lasted. Thanks for the memories. I'd love to continue the journey, but you locked everyone off the bus on 11/22/05. Only you can open the doors again.
