Which versions of Row Jimmy do you guys think are the absolute best based solely on sound quality alone? Let me now if you know of some really stellar ones!

12-28-79 Is one of the best, Jerry blows a speaker, or breaks a string or something, its pretty good

I love the sound of thes versions of 1974-06-18, and it's a great "jazzy" show. http://db.etree.org/shninfo_detail.php?shnid=209 or http://db.etree.org/shninfo_detail.php?shnid=32528 It's not without fault, in that the bass drum and floor toms are a bit sharp and lack their low-end life. EDIT: I think I prefer the 209 version because there's a slightly warmer sound to it. I have not heard the Bertha remaster. I wish when people would recommend shows (whenever known/possible) that they would include the version #. The mastering, mixing, production work is significant; and it would be really handy and helpful to know which ones are better than others.

Seems a common way to go...

I've always liked Row Jimmy, because Jerry gets two solos.

The best, hands down: 3/20/77

Also very good: 6/3/76 and 6/12/76

Oh, yeah, man! Row Jimmy is one of my favorites. Here are some of favorite versions. the recording level is pretty good throughout all of thses picks.

06-18-74, 06-14-76, 05-15-77, 07-17-89 (left out of the Downhill From Here DVD), 08-05-89, 08-18-89 (snag this whole run from the Greek if you don't already have it. Great stuff), 10-09-89, 04-03-90, 03-27-91, 03-16-93 (this whole run from the Capitol Theater rocks as well)

Well, there are a few and, undoubtedly, there will be several more following right behind me. Enjoy.

Update-listening to 03-16-93 right now and I forgot how outstanding this performance is. Great later day Dead and superb sound. Very crisp. Great playing all around but Jerry is really on time.

02/14/68 Carousel Ballroom. They open the show with a scorching 6:25 second Dew that will melt your face. You can literally feel the ripples of sound from the strings on Jerry's guitar. Get it if you can find it. You won't be disappointed man!
