Guys .php extensions are better then the .html or .htm whatever it was before. PHP is server side and is much faster then HTML. The site looks nice and always with a new site there is change thats why you make a new site, change if it wasnt any different than whats the point. I like the site.

The problem with .php is that after you download
it, you do not neccessarily know which type it really
was that you downloaded. It was not html but identified
exactly the type of file; mpeg2, avi(MPEG4), or presently
a new format, mpeg1 (DVD). I do not believe the speed
of downloading is attributal to the suffix, only the size
of the file. In my mind the old (exact) file spec.
was better. Also, the current download shows only
"download" while the old site gave a number to each
file. This was easier to sort and index.

I was annoyed by the download.php file problem from the browser too, so now I always use an FTP program to get the files instead. I get to the movie detail page and fold my cursor over the Download Movie lik for the file I want (in my case MPEG2) and see the file number (e.g. 00895a.mpg). I then simply navigate with my FTP program to the directory for the movies (e.g. ftp://ftp.archive.org/pub/movies/prelinger/mpeg2/) and download the file from there.
