Wow! - 40.000! Seems like only yesterday that the Archive hit 30,000. Thank you to all the tapers and archivists who have made this fantastic resource possible - it is very much appreciated.

Yeah 40K! I remember how big a deal it was when it hit 10000. Now you know, of course, that it would be impossible to listen to this many concerts in a single lifetime.

wow 40,000! Crazy. Hopefully some of the engineers can post some of the hard numbers on bandwidth / user numbers / disk usage etc. i'm sure the numbers would be hard to fathom!

I do know timeline-wise the shows just keep coming in regardless of the fact that all known sources for a lot of bands were uploaded long ago. here's a timeline I've been keeping track of:

Project starts in aug/sept 2002 ...

and now, 40,000 on November 22, 2006. That 35,000 happened right before the big 'server switch' to the new LMA system, so maybe that slowed down people's uploads, but people caught on how to use the new system. Let's shoot for 50,000 shows before Fall 2007!

The Live Music Archive rocks! Long live free live music supported by the bands.
