Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Grateful Realization of Kinship - FINAL alternate schedule

Borrowed the term from a suggestion by JodyC. We've got 10/12/84 for the East Coast, 5/15/77 looks good for the Mid West and 7/2/71 Fillmore West for the West Coast. Tentative schedule will be: 10/12/84 Augusta and 5/15/77 St. Louis starting at 8:00 PM EST this Friday. 7/2/71 (closing of the Fillmore West) starting at 8:00 PM EST. In deference to those who can't get time for one or both nights, I'm thinking of running the two Friday shows again on Saturday morning @ 9:00 AM EST and the Saturday night show on Sunday morning @ 9:00 AM EST.*(see below alternate schedule possibility) *Another possibility given few folks can actually sit in for more than one full show easily: we could do Augusta Friday night, St.Louis Saturday night and Fillmore West on Sunday night. Three shows, three nights; all starting at 9:00 PM EST. I actually like this format better (folks west of the Mississippi might prefer it as well) and would love input. **Last update (please God), seems I forgot that Sunday evening will be the Super Bowl and many of you fine folks (myself included) may find it difficult to give a show any attention. So how about we do the West Coast show Sunday morning? We seem to do well with the "Coffee with the Dead" events. We could set a time during the listen Saturday night. As always, anyone wanting to engage in more real time discussion about the shows while they are playing is welcome to sign on to http://www.chatzy.com/284370529904 (password: GROK)

Some ideas for the West Coast show:

11-7-71
8-6-71
12-31-71

1-23-70
Cliff's recent suggestions: 2-27-70, 2-28-70

Thanks.

I have never heard the 70 shows on the list, and it has been a long time since I heard the 71 shows (I remember them from my tape collection). Have been meaning to listen to 8-6 again for a while, since it gets a lot of mention around here and I recently got the Dick's Picks from 8/71.

I don't remember ever listening to 7-2-71, so I'm excited about that too.

I guess we could use this to get a thumbs up or down on a final set up. Unless I'm dumb, which is a distinct possibility, you can only put up one question at a time. If this is true we could ask if folks agree with the lineup. If we could have a set up where there are 3 questions with 4 shows as possible answers for each (4 East, 4 MidWest, 4 West). If that can be done without the need for anyone to download anything, that would be perfect.

Hey SDH--again, though spiritually behind the GROK in all ways, difficult (again) for me to participate, but wanted you to know I appreciate your efforts as I know the others here do as well...

All these early era suggestions have me taking notes and contemplating the next CLIFFSTER boxed set give away to champion the early days.

Appreciate the sentiment. Barring any deep seeded pushback, I'm leaning towards a show a night starting Friday at 9:00 EST. Maybe you can get in on at least part of one. Would love to have your input wherever possible.

Yep, I do hope that the Cliff Hucker is happy with himself (or is it "itself"?), there seems to have been a slight shift on the board with more attention being given to earlier material.

We need more infighting and general utter nastiness!! Not useful things like thoughtful pointers to good early shows. I will not stand for this anymore!!! I hope it is happy with itself - because i am now fully enraged!!!

(mamby pamby niceness and crap.... yeeeesh)

oh, btw - if we do a Sunday show - that is Superbowl night isn't it?? that could cause a delay (yes, i will stupidly be watching it)

Enough folks have chimed in that the "show-a-day" idea would be preferred and that a 9 PM EST start time Friday and Saturday would be best. On Sunday we will have an earlier time due to the Super Bowl. Maybe about 12 noon EST. We can firm up the time during the listening on Saturday night. I can almost promise that this will be the last change. Almost. If you hear nothing else, this will be how it is.

Now there's a possible question for folks:
For those who remember Fantasy Island, what would your Dead-related fanatasy be if Ricardo Montalban and Herve Villachez were able to make it happen?

Paying for a fantasy that tunrs into a nightmare makes as much sense as not going into genies bottle and letting her serve her " master" on that plush couch of hers.

With fantasy island you're liable to get a 4.5 hour mammoth wall of sound era show with nothing but vince and brent tunes and all bad covers

Tell did...seriously; went with 28 over 27 for the moment. Was time limited given recent tangent with 8-23-68 (whewww). Nonetheless, I digress...28 is an interesting set list, for sure. Do you think that the insertion of the acoustic was due to technical difficulties? I want to give the OOne a more detailed listen today.
