As a BART user I actually found this video to be very interesting. I think BART is a great system, but there is so much that didn't turn as expected. One of the examples is that they claimed that each station would be unique and representative to its community. Yet, so many of the East Bay outdoor stations are pretty much the same design.
Also, the song was just awful. In any case, it's nice to see a vision of the Bay Area not only before BART was finished, but also previous to the construction of the Transamerica Pyramid.

The folksy opening and closing "Building a Dream for Tomorrow" song tries to give a 1930's (when the government actually employed people to build big things people needed) Woody Guthrie feel to this film, which is ultimately trying to placate frustrated car commuters. BART was the first "modern" attempt at subways in the US. Not a word about crossing the San Andreas fault underground and underwater! Nice shots of the 1960's Bay Area, the tunneling project, and the artist rendition of BART stations.

Now, if you can get the very B.J. Thomasish theme song out of your head boys and girls, this film about the progress the builders were having building the BART system in SF is very well thought out. Quite a lot of construction scenes and explanations on how it's done. Quite interesting.

This 60s film gives a glowing report on the progress of building the BART (Bay Area Rapid Trasit) subway and interurban train system in the San Francisco bay area. Endless footage of construction is shown while the narrator tells us how wonderful it and good for the city it will all be. Whether or not it fulfilled this rosy promise is not for me to say, since I've never been to San Francisco. I guess this film has some historical value, though.
