Hello. I would like to contact the user @video_archivist to ask him when more videos will be uploaded.
(Not to be demanding, but becaue some videos from some channels have disappeared after @video_archivist was last active. I could not find a re-upload of several.)

Two possible methods would be:
* Direct messages
* Preferably: Threaded comment board on each user's profile (similar to YouTube's “channel comments / discussion” and on many internet forums).

Miscellaneous other suggestions (lesser important):
* Ability for users to add descriptions about themselves.
* (If enabled by original uploader:) Ability to suggest edits and add files to items from other uploaders.
* Interactable comment bords for each item and collection (distinct from “reviews”. Comments with threads could also be used to hoard potentially useful information, and allow discussions between users.)
* For Wayback Machine: Archive YouTube comments by default (not all, but e.g. 50 top + 50 newest comments per video or something similar.)

(Yes, I know, Archive.org is not a social network, but these suggested features could be useful for the purpose of Archive.org as well.)

I hope my suggestions to be useful. Thanks.

I definitely think it's useful. Light loading (if that is concern) could be enforced by a character limit like SMS, 160 plain text characters or less, just enough to ask a user to reply, then users should move the conversation off to their e-mails, if the contacted person wants to reply to the inquiry. I want to contact larryophonic to buy some of his stuff, but do not want to have to submit to the intrusions of a youtube or social media acct. just to do that.
