The Dick Tracy television series seems to be p.d. (I can't find copyright renewals.)

The British series William Tell, like Robin Hood, also seems to be p.d.

There are lots of classic movies that are copyrighted mixed in with some PD. Here's a new one:

It's possible that some Dick Tracy episodes are PD. I see that there aren't many. I think most UK TV is generally not but I would have to check more in depth.

OK I updated my post above to only include series where the renewal is available on the Library of Congress online search. Then I pasted it in the review for the first episode. There are so many movies and series in that account that it takes a long time to even find the ones I posted. There are quite a few more copyrighted series if you have a day to spend. It would be said if the whole archive were to go down due to accounts like this.

It would be advisable to study copyright law before making pronouncements. Colorization appears to effect the status of the item.

I've studied copyright law extensively, The US copyright office accepts copyright applications for colorized movies because such works fulfill the requirement of originality. But even if the underlying work is PD the colorized version represents a derivative work that can have its own copyright. And colorizing a copyrighted work doesn't give you rights to the underlying film.
