They have a nice little show happening out there in San Fran tonite. But I do think the country's in bad shape when the Grateful Dead are telling you whom to vote for!

just wondering? anyone know why he is sitting out nowadays....

i know this is phil's drummer, but they don't sound too linked up.... in fact it really has sounded BAD at some points, on China Cat, Other One and Sugaree -- that's enough for me.....

(maybe it was just the stream, but, some of that sounded super disjointed, and train-wrecky)

Kreutzmann played last weekend here in Hawaii with Dave Nelson and Friends. A cure for feeling disjointed and train wrecky.

How is it going on the Big Isle? I forgot you were there till I read your post. On Maui, a place called Stella Blue use to be open. Kind of restaurant/coffee house any idea if it is still open. If I had to bet I would say NO.

Wow, that is great. Thanks for the update. I was there @ 14 years ago, good to hear it is open and still going strong.

The Eastern windward side has had bad flooding this week. Over here on the West side its been cool, but no torrential rains and floods like the Hilo side. Never been to Maui or Stella Blue's but I used to have a friend here who owned a hemp store called "Sunshine Daydream". Dude used to go diving with Jerry here in Kona and had the pictures to prove it. Kreutzmann played some gigs here last week with Dave Nelson and Friends (sitting in for John Molo.)

I only heard part of the first set and the acoustic set and while I'm sure the folks there had fun it certainly didn't make me get excited about the possibility of any type of tour. Sure, more shows under their belt together and it would be better, but from the little I saw/heard, there were definitely no "wow" moments and at times it was pretty damn bad. Hopefully they caught fire in the final portion.

I guess we're not in bad shape since Bobby already said that everyone should vote for whoever they think is the best, not necessarily Obama.

They are just supporting the candidate they think is best. That is AMERICA BABY. Country is fine, thank you.

It was a sarcastic-type comment. I wish I could agree that the country is fine, thank you. I have a bad feeling about the next few years, and I'm a young single guy with a lot of money.

"UNCLE TOM'S BAND"???

How much do you guys get paid from right wing foundations to post here? What's wrong with the old boys trying to make the best of an unsavory situation?

You know, fire is the devil's only friend -- and that ain't no friend at all.

One way or another...willingly or unwillingly the darkness will give.

Spaced - You say "you guys", but did you notice that nobody responded to this thread until you and I.

F'ing ramblings of an idiot. That's what you will often find here. You have to be prepared to leave the bad and take the good.

Anyhow, most folks here avoid such overtly nasty posts. Just know that the intended effect is smoke blowing from the readers ears, followed by a vitriolic reply.

Homey, don't play that! :)

Was I really the only sad old utterly un-PC fart who actually thought "Uncle Tom's Band" was fucking funny?

I think this term is forked.

In the literary sense, the title of the thread is humorous.

However, socially, the term "Uncle Tom" has a negative connotation and initiates the knee-jerk.

In summary, "Uncle Tom's Cabin" is the title of a book. While "Uncle Tom" is a negative/racist term used mostly by black people to describe other blacks who they perceive as sell-outs(for lack of a better term).

Folks get confused and assume it's a racist remark. But you'll have to ask the author of this thread to know for sure.

Hey, 'flow - as a clever play on words and as a (wittingly or unwittingly) accurately delivered blow to the knee-jerk sensibilities of the, in this case, more liberal-minded members of the assembly the threadhead works beautifully. Taking the negative and transforming it into the positively funny is what the best humour is all about.

Agreed. I wish people would listen (and read) w/ their funny-bone first, and soon they'd simply drop the stone from laughing so hard.
