I downloaded the smaller file and a small sample of the larger file.

The smaller file is 480p and the larger file is 1080p. If this were a modern digital video that would be very significant.

The difference on this digitized 1952 film is less significant. Nevertheless I can see slightly better detail on the large 1080p file.

Torrent should be a faster download than a direct download from archive.org. When opening the torrent you can uncheck everything but Nobody's Children.M4V (MPEG4). Or you can download the .MP4 (HLS) for comparison, too. But you don't need the other stuff.
