In 2021, YouTube purged unlisted videos dated 2016 and earlier.

Obviously, I am disappointed by this decision by YouTube, however, there might actually be a hidden blessing in disguise, because in anticipation to the purge, people saved many videos that would have been made private or deleted later for other causes anyway.

So it might actually have prevented the loss of lots of videos.

I wasn’t even aware actually, but to say I’m surprised would be a lie.

I’ve lived through 3 major purges, the 2010-2013 purge, the elsagate purge, and one prior to both circa 2008-2009.

I’m saying this, because genuinely we lost millions of videos with those purges.

That’s upsetting, and unfortunate.

I hope we saved all we could :(
