Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Happiness is JGB - for Althea

Here is a starter collection of JGB on youtube, for Althea and anyone else who is new to JGB. Warning: there is no turning back, it's musical heroin. Catfish John 3-01-80 This is my all time favorite Garcia video. Psychedelic swamp funk; classic Garcia all the way. I could manage with no other Jerry videos if I had to; I’m not sure how I DID manage for about 30 years without this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n81doCdMzwE&feature=related Midnight Moonlight 9-11-76 Second favorite. Music that makes everything all right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79SdU3ZQ_U0 Lonesome and a Long Way From Home 4/03/76 – in two parts: the first time I listened to this, I thought I’d never heard a piece of music so fantastic ever before in my life. That might be right. This old road keep rollin’ on and on … somebody help me … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRX8kpkL6iM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qnh9IqRrnZ8&feature=related Takes a Lot to Laugh, Takes a Train to Cry. Jerry with Merl. Wins the most insanely beautiful prize. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emzY-7Riqas&feature=related Splice of Sitting in Limbo/That’s All Right Mama 1980 (exact date?) A must watch for the video as much as the audio. The height of the Feb-March 1980 JGB frenzy – probably the high point for JGB. The All Right Mama is the rockin’-est thing ever. That’s all right Jerry, any way you do … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suLpY610jq0 When I Paint My Masterpiece 3-08-80 Another song I obsess over helplessly. This just appeared recently. more 1980 frenzy. Not my absolute favorite Masterpiece but gives you the idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iJX2LgJh10 Another nice Catfish John (you can’t have too many): 2-18-78 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHbWLdYnhLo&feature=related Tough Mama What a great song. Meet me at the border late tonight … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ryfj8Vp2QI Mystery Train 11-15-76 Hate to tell ya boy, that train don’t run here anymore … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqcNdMT3ldo Stop That Train 7-08-76 More great ’76. Donna is doing what she does best here, too. Won’t be too long, whether I’m right or wrong … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgbON1-sFCY  Gomorrah 1977 Perfect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkB_gjh5brU&feature=related Positively Fourth Street: 10-27-75 “poor sound quality” the reviewer says, but sounds pretty fine to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qT04i2KnLxY Let’s Spend the Night Together 12-20-75 It is difficult not to mentally supply Mick Jagger’s verbal flourishes I’ll satisfy your every need (every need) Don’t hang me up don’t let me down (don’t let me down) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4pUdZsTWTc Sisters and Brothers 9-5-89 “acid gospel” I wish there were earlier versions of this but I just so love this song, and actually this is fantastic. Let us take our fellow man by the hand ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGFf1XL9AUU Robert Hunter doing Tiger Rose 2-29-80 Wow, I didn’t know this was here! Just appeared. I love this song. Wish there was real video. (a rarity) Love me like you did last night just one time more … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duRI2TFAPh8 Wow Promontory Rider is here too!!! (same date) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnfLQ-S0GbY Good Night Irene 7-16-88 I am not inclined toward the latter era JGB. But this was a party! Good night (Jerry), I’ll see you in my dreams. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9DdTPmAiTM Finally, here is a complete JGB show on youtube: 3/18/78 And it’s a classic show, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4vKtjSgPlM&feature=related  set list: Harder They Come Mission in the Rain Simple Twist of Fate Midnight Moonlight Gomorrah Cats Down Under the Stars I'll Be With Thee If others know of complete JGB shows on youtube, let me know! This is just a drop in the bucket, and more get posted all the time. edited to fix all the dumb mistakes

One has only to read a few of your insipid posts to
realize what a vacuous, vicious, noxious waste of humanity you are. If the Grateful Dead had foreseen that you were
going to be their fanboy, they never would have played a note. And I mean that quite literally. Go fly away to your midget porn. Ha.

i know your type all too well. you're sitting behind your computer with one hand on your chode, while you get off to putting down others who you think are inferior to you because they don't write as well. you are truly fucking pathetic. and do you try to talk like an english professor when you're not getting off on the internet? who are you trying to impress? yourself?

"For an author to write as he speaks is just as reprehensible as the opposite fault, to speak as he writes; for this gives a pedantic effect to what he says, and at the same time makes him hardly intelligible."
Arthur Schopenhauer

The great thing about posting on the Internet is the unbridled scope it offers for invention. The way I write is sod all like the incomprehensible foul-mouthed grumblings that issue forth when I actually speak. If old Umbongowumba sounds like he writes then he's probably a bit of a twat really.

Yet they say one good twaddle deserves another. What else might explain the frenetic girl-girl action so often swirling around here?

I am afraid you have confused my name with your illustrious resident's.

You could sniggle your erudite hooks at the cravenly micahfly...he's bitten you for months under different handles, after making a rather large show of a public truce. He or it seems to do that with several posters before they're viciously attacked. Surely you're aware of this fact? Please don't crucify him, though; I dread an extra Easter.

I simply state the obvious, and let the vaporous, tired new and improved fleeced flock sort it out. Not out any desire to collect inane noise or other rubbish phoned in by alleged tough guys for years upon years to harass GD fans. You know--sub-sub-par muzakal talents jealous of the lasting impact of the Dead's tunes.
It's not that difficult to connect the dots. Even you could do it.
Cheers

why are you avoiding my questions? just so you can point out a small grammatical error i made? i don't proofread what i write on the internet usually, and don't bother trying to impress others with fancy writing. there's a place for that, and it's not here.

i am left to believe you are a miserable old man who spanks his chode while talking down to others to make up for your own insecurities. you haven't corrected me on any of those statements yet. anyway, i'm losing interest in you. the novelty aspect has worn off and you're just a waste of space at this point. keep up your shit and nobody is going to respond to any of your posts. you'll then have to find another forum. have you already been banned from all the other forums and that's why you're here perhaps?

The 1974 - 1975 - 1976 Round Records lil glossy postcards, I probably still have those somewhere in one of the boxes. Seastones LP, (never made it to side two), Keith & Donna LP (probably the same) Reflections LP, the promise of good things to come, Tales of the Great Rum Runners, competent performer, great lyricist, Kingfish LP (kingfish was code for cocaine) good tight lil unit though, taped them at The Auditorium Theatre on July 23rd, 1976. The house was barely 50% full and Kingfish played for whatever was the minimum time in their contract, 90 minutes at best. If you were alive in the 70s you may have known of a company named Superscope, a horizontal down troft marketing division of Sony. I had a portable stereo recorder the size of two bibles and security was so lax that evening it was no problem walking it in. Hank Harrison was a client of mine in Palo Alto 1987 and turned me on to a pristine copy of St. Louis 05/15/77 he also alluded to a Jerry/Sarah tape in his collection fron 1963 but never produced it. Hank smoked pot from sunrise to sunset, worked for SRI, Stanford Research Institute and lived at the Draegers Deli in Menlo Park.
