Cinetel is the bane of my existence. This guy claims every single film in the public domain. I fought him and got YouTube to remove the claim. It was for Jack Nicholson's 'Little Shop of Horrors' and I stated that Jack is alive and well and will not receive any royalties for his films that are being dubbed in Castillion! Cinetel threatened to sue me, I did not reply. If he wants to sue me he would have to come to the US and sue me in Federal Court. He would never get standing to sue. Many of these actors and actresses are still alive, Maureen O'Hara in Hitchcock's 'Jamaica Inn' etc. John Wayne has heirs as does James Stewart. Just keep disputing the claims. These films are PD in the US, if he wants to spend thousands of dollars dubbing them, go for it, but these films are still public domain here. He needs to go away. John Wayne is as American as Apple Pie! Right?

PS, for some reason the archive was not recognizing my account address or password. When I tried to use 'Bullie' as my screen name of course it was already taken. Yes! By me!!!

All titles except "Evergreen" are here at the Archive, and I cannot find copyright renewals for the films released before 1950. (Whether the two British films could still be under copyright is perhaps open to debate.)

So the pre-1950 U.S. films must be public domain.

If we're lucky, Video-Cellar will give his opinion on the claim that "Musical Compositions" in some of the movies keep them from being freely distributed.
