![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | We Are Timetheory [tmth001] - V/A It's 2008, and the brainchild of Jon7.net Microlabel head honcho Jon 7 has come to life in the form of a new netlabel, Timetheory Recordings. This introductory compilation showcases artists and tracks that will come to define the Timetheory sound and aesthetic. Artists who had come to be a major part of the Jon7.net sound art family comprise much of the current roster, and along the way new artists have been discovered and have chosen to be part of the Timetheory posse... Featuring the almost overwhelming electro-drone now known as 'power ambience', the music also ventures deep into the realm of experimental industrial soundscapes, harrowing dark ambient passages, menacing bass pulsations and avant-garde electronica... He returned later with this set of 4 tracks that continue the sonic themes explored in that album. The feel is still ambient, but much darker and moodier than "Tinram LR", but still maintain the dubbed-and-delayed qualities that have made his tracks so enjoyable to listen to... He offered his latest recording to jon7.net, but we directed him here instead. "Elementals" is an intriguing recording, full of slowly mutating loops and sounds. ![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | Time [tmth013] - Jon 7 After an extended break in recording, label head Jon 7 presents his first full release for Timetheory, an expansive, double-CD contribution to the "Time" series. Each track on "Time" was inspired by a time zone on the North American continent, and the mood of each piece tries in some way to capture some quality, real or imagined, of the geographical areas in each zone. An overall calm and tranquil feeling runs through this release, designed to be just as useful for relaxing the mind as for watch... Never ones to shy away from dark and disturbing themes, they have provided 3 tracks each that reflect their respective influences and life experiences. The music of Bath is more gothic, electronically industrial and lyrically oriented than any previous releases. This single-track midform, "Accelerated Decrepitude" is a warped, chimey drone that slowly loses its shine over the course of its twenty minute duration. It has been pleasantly joked that those who enjoy footage of metal rusting or corroding in fast motion will especially like this release. Each artist supplied three tracks, then remixed each others tracks, yielding twelve total tracks. After some contact on Myspace, we were pleased to find the music of Restive amenable to being rereleased on Timetheory, and of his many sonic space journals, #14 was selected to be presented here. This is the first release on this label that borders so strongly on noise; the appeal for us is the way each track begins with a very ambient pleasant drone feeling, then slowly develops into stronger and louder sonic dynamics.
