[movies]1995 American Expedition to Everest: John Meek Interview - John Martin Meek
Everyone I have interviewed in this noted climber collection for the American Alpine Club have had good stories, while others had great stories. An example of a great story would be Simone Moro, who gave up his quest to do the first traverse of Lohtse and Everest to aid another climber. The 1995 American Everest expedition is another great story, unusual in two details. First, the team included George Mallory II of Australia, grandson of the great British climber, George Mallory, who first attem...

"Ms. Big Expedition and Ms. Big Wall" "These are not established sports nicknames for Kitty and Lynn. They are names I created that seem to fit their respective careers as two of this country's outstanding climbers. A native of South Carolina, Kitty began climbing at 18 and was soon hooked on ice walls. Her first big climb was in Peru. There followed Dhualagiri and West Pillar of Makalu. Other major expeditions include Denali, Middle Triple Peak in Alaska, Diamond Couloir of Mt...

[movies]Dick Bass: John Meek Interview 2002 - John Meek
"Although it was not covered in this interview, which I thought was pointless, Dick Bass' determination to be the first person to stand on the highest peaks of the seven continents was not without controversy. Among some of the American climbing community, Bass' project of being the first to nail the seven summits was considered somewhat less than pure, being viewed as a wealthy amateur paying professional guides to accompany him on some of the climbs...
