[audio]Glass Tainted Stain [tmth067] - Controlled Dissonance
Light, ever the symbol of that which is good and wholesome; purveying, with stalwart benevolence, a sense of comfort, familiarity and serenity, twists upon itself revealing unforeseen depths of perversion and depravity when filtered through the tainted stain of glass. Controlled Dissonance is John Ingram (the musician, not to be confused with the Jesuit martyr or the CEO of Ingram Industries), and the moniker aptly describes the musical approach of “Glass Tainted Stain”...

[audio]Complex Silence 4 [tmth06A] - mysterybear
For Complex Silence 4, mysterybear (Dave Seidel) provides a decidedly abstract, yet sublime exploration of the Golden Ratio with two long-form tracks. He describes the creative process: "Both tracks use intervals and waveforms derived from the Golden Ratio. I usually compose in just intonation, which is based on rational numbers (whole number ratios). The golden ratio, by contrast, is an irrational number...

[audio]Zeno Effect [tmth065] - Fosel
Our latest new artist, Fosel, lives and records his music in the southwestern desert of new Mexico. His second release for Time Theory is this one, "Zeno Effect". Another release heavy on the science, "Zeno Effect"'s three long, droning tracks explore the the sounds that could accompany the realm of particle physics. You may be able to listen to these tracks, but it can be proved that you will never finish them...

[audio]Gammatria [tmth064] - John Mason
John Mason is, as you might expect, a close relative of Jon 7 and JMMIII. Jon 7 has a contentious colleague (interactions with whom he still values highly) who had offered him a release of "Guitar Music" for Time Theory. The offer was rescinded though due to Jon 7's failure to respond immediately. "Guitar Music" was instead offered to a Dutch label, and promptly was never brought up again (though it may have done well where it landed...

[audio]Inauguration [tmth-010] - President Blair
This second Time Theory release from President Blair explores his style of noise in a different manner than usual. the sounds on this release are (untypically for music in the noise genre) entirely digital in source and construction. No tapes were harmed in the making of this recording. It was however recorded in one take using a variety of small apps running at once. Future PB recordings wil likely oscillate between this digital style and the previous lo-fidelity tape-manipulated style.

[audio]Complex Silence 3 [tmth062] - JMMIII
The third entry to the "Complex Silence" series comes courtesy of JMMIII (aka Jon 7). This time complex silence is formed out a field recording made on bicycle while touring around the industrail areas of west Eugene, where JMMIII lives. On any given day, metal fabrication shops and lumber mills can be heard dancing their menacing mechanical ballet, which is as much a joy to watch as to listen to. "Lumbering Drone" takes the sounds of this environment, and through lengthening and processing, cre...

[audio]The White Nothing [tmth061] - Reality Switch
"Music for Spaceports"? Perhaps so! Our friend Tom from Germany sent us this suite of slow, ambient piano tracks, which arrived at perhaps the most nerve-racking period TTHQ had ever experienced. What a joy it was to listen to these tracks and simply..slow..down... When life seems too much and peace seems impossible to find, how often it is that we are simply going too fast, driving ourselves too hard, and never letting ourselves take even the breath we need to live...

[audio]KemoKlen [tmth060] - KemoKlen
Enter into a space of dark, almost magickal ambient with this release by Joel Kinsberger aka KemoKlen. These three long dark tracks will no doubt take you through a journey the feels like it smells of ritual. The tracks titles are evocative of some kind of ritualistic process. It is possible they may mean nothing of the sort, but as they progress one can almost smell the burning of dripping wax and fat, a torch led down a long hallway, the dim illumination of an ancient darkened and windswept pl...

[audio]Right/Wrong [tmth05B] - Julien Skrobek
"Right/Wrong" is a suite of compositions continuing the musique concrete style we have come to enjoy and expect from Parisian teacher Julien Skrobek. The same kind of slowly developing sound as we heard in "Plage Concrete" is in evidence here, but there is more development, more eventfulness present in these tracks. As usual, patience is required to get the full understanding of thr role each sound plays in each scene, but it's patience that is very well rewarded...

[audio]The Vindictive Patent Vol. 1 [tmth05F] - Golgotha Communications Ltd
Golgotha Communications Ltd reported to TTHQ that they had been remastering old material and wanted for it to see the light of day. As they described it, these tracks are some of the only survivors of an extensive period of recording. As usual, the evocative titles tell a story of times and places both existent and non-existent. We feel that this release in particular has the feel of a book rather than a movie (something a bit like "Cowyboy Feng's Space Bar and Grille")...

[audio]Tres [tmth05E] - Fosel
"Tres", the Time Theory debut from Fosel, is a remarkable piece of work, especially for those who appreciate the albums by Restive on TT. Ostentibly ambient, the tracks on "Tres" have a sparkling crystalline quality, but also incorporate deep rumbles and disquieting elements that never let the listener relax entirely. It's an effective combination of the sort Time Theory thrives on. Other albums from Fosel are available on Time Theory and other netlabels...

[audio]The Aviary [tmth05D] - Textbeak
Somewhere, deep in the hardly-fashionable part of Cleveland, is a dance club known only to those who dare to dance on the very edge. Kown affectionately to some as the "Purgatory Garage", it's actual name is "The Aviary", formerly a chicken processing plant. At The Aviary, The DJ's spin every kind of homemade and hand modified tracks they can muster, and weekend after weekend, revelers from across the city gather to let their hair down and freak to beats that can't be found anywhere else...

[audio]Grey Gray [tmth05C] - Instant
In response to the call for compositions/albums on the theme of "color", inspired by Jon 7's spring-term color thoery class, Ben Kelley (aka Instant) was first to come to the fore. "Grey Gray" may be based on hexadecimal variants of grey, but the tracks are anything but. These tracks bristle with movement and action and color, the only thing black-and-white about them is the feeling one gets while listening that bears a resemblance to programs watched late at night on an old television...

[audio]Complex Silence 2 [tmth05A] - Tange
With Complex Silence 2, Time Theory and Tange continue the Series with a truly beautiful set of long-form tracks that explore farther into the realms of enigmatic and abstract ambience. This contribution by Tange is a perfectly suited voyage into harmonic and dissonant mystery with a sublime mix of Tibetan bowls (Part 1) and Buddha Machine samples (Part 2). [audio]Salvation [tmth059] - Instant
"Salvation" is based on a rather simple concept: the starting off with a simple loop and continuously mutating it until it becomes unrecognizable. Standard stuff right? But there's more... the nd part of said mutation is then cut and looped, and mutated continuously. And so it goes through the length of this release. Somewhere in a space where an endless burnfire burns, in a never ending twilight, around a pole of every time but May, will be heard the circulating, pulsing loops and rhythms of "Carne Crescendo". Though ambient in places it may be, this is music for the flesh, a nine-part hymn to Pan (the big Horny One) brought to us by Fars. Now here's a quirky item in the TT catalogue. Krakenti, an artist from Latvia sent us this album of slow-growing ambient IDM. Each track inches its way along, building and mutating in lazy cycles. "The No Molten Petrie is Jawohl" is part four of the Fars trilogy, and the story, whatever it may be, continues! As we have license here to interpret it as we hear it, we imagine that our characters have made planetfall on a somewhat Earth-like planet. [audio]Drocht [tmth-00C] - Zieltogend
"Drocht" is the first of the trilogy of deconstructions of Jon 7's "Time" album being released in the TT negative integer albums. Zieltogend's stock-in-trade is taking tracks, stripping them to their barest elements and recreating them in a stark and minimal fashion, what some might call "dark drift". This is a really excellent interpretation of "Time" in many ways because the original elements are unrecognizable, and because we find it fascinating how sound can be stretched without breaking...

They recently released Jon 7's album "The Dark Moon", so in return we released this album, "The Black Suns".
