![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | Des Éléments - Greg Fox A greedy reductionist approach to composition in which all musical phenomena are merely emergent properties of the system. Each element is simply one sine wave of an arbitrary (and randomly derived) pitch sounded for an arbitrary (and randomly derived) period followed by an arbitrary (and randomly derived) period of silence. The elements form a "construction kit" which can then be used to make music following the "Open Source Audio" model (for more see "Malhaus" by Greg Fox from 2006)... It's under an hour but is still quite a long haul, in one continuous stretch of quiet, subdued sine-waves. The frequencies lie between 100 and 1000 hertz and the durations lie between zero and ten seconds. This volume brings together the threads from the first two, with rearrangements of the material used as elements in volume one combined with a radical reworking of the data matrix from volume two. The final thread is a kind of farewell to "fake instruments", for fake piano and fake bass guitar.
