A 1949 Public Service Announcement aired on the DuMont Television Network, reminding the young viewers of "Captain Video" that "freedom is everybody's job". This features the same background as the 1950 PSA I uploaded. DuMont was a cheap network, but in fact, they did a lot of good things, like airing the complete McCathy hearings (sadly no footage remains from their coverage). One must give them credit for good intentions.

Although the program was little more than a plug for the sponsor, and was done on an ultra-low budget, It's actually not THAT bad of TV show. At a time when TV was still young, The Networks did various "Filler" programs designed to fill time-slots of low-importantance. Since Paid Programming generally frowned upon and TV was to young for Re-Runs, Unimportant timeslots were filled with Quiz...

Rare 1949 episode of the TV series "Captain Video and His Video Rangers", considered by many to be the "Plan 9 from Outer Space" of Classic TV. The show is about a "Space Captain" and his "Video Ranger" who must the galaxy from the evil Dr. Pauli. Low production values, bad acting and bad writing combine to create a very surreal TV show. The show was live, which would explain the missed cues. It's believed most of the master prints were destroyed after the show was cancelled...
