This is time lapse of the beaver pond on our property in Oregon. The beavers are fairly active, although they are generally nocturnal. I've seen them around dusk quite a few times, but I've only caught them on camera once (see 03-05-2006 below.) To keep them happy (so that they will maintain the nice pond that they've built) I feed them curly willow branches. They seem to enjoy them quite a bit. They eat the bark and use the wood for their dens and dam...

| Lunar Eclipse 8.28.07 - Chuck Heron
This was an attempt to capture the eclipse on 8/28/2007. I used CHDK with my camera mounted on an orion Atlas mount. I think the eclipse was at around 3am, and I had to work the next day, so I wanted to try and get it to capture the whole sequence while I slept... It kind of worked.. the main problem was that I wanted to use auto-exposure so that it wouldn't be completely over-exposed before and after totality, but still have a nice exposure during totality.....

| Time Lapse at Night (raw) - Chuck Heron
This is my first try at long exposure timelapse at night. It was far from a perfect night... but there are moments where you see the stars.. I mostly just wanted to let it run for a night and see how it looked. I'm using a Canon Powershot A560 that's using CHDK to take 65 second exposures and do the timelapse. This version is using the raw exposure (also thanks to CHDK). The jpgs, which used auto white balance had a very blue tint to them...

| Beavercam footage 2007 - Chuck Heron
Lots of night time beaver action in this clip! Nudge Nudge wink wink See them devour huge stiff wood until nothing's left! Watch them gnaw the bark off thick hard logs.. careful with those teeth! Special guest appearances by several sultry Pussy cats. A playful pair of "Masked Bandits" have a little romp in front of the beavercam.. Lots of nasty wildlife in this flick!

| Burning The Leaves - Chuck Heron
This is a Time Lapse of a leaf burn last fall (2007)... It was a little smoky and sort of a bastard to start, but with a little help from a leaf blower, some old gas and a little wood, it got going pretty well... The clouds are kind of cool as they mutate and roll by... Then there's an evening calm where the smoke lays on the ground like mist.. It was taken using a Canon PowerShot S3 IS camera and the CHDK PowerShot Hack

| Laying Pipe - Charles Heron
Time lapse of some big tractors laying sewer pipe in the road in front of my barn. They laid the pipe about 25 feet down... Noisy as hell, and they start at about 6am in the morning.. but it's kind of cool to watch how they pull it off.. 3 scoops is all it takes to fill up one of those trucks.

| Time Lapse At Night 2.8.8 - Chuck Heron

| Beaver Eating a Log
A beaver caught on the beavercam eating a willow log. This log was the last chunk of about 5 large branches that I fed the beavers. The rest was chewed up and consumed at night, but I got lucky this time and a beaver decided to chew off a little snack during the daylight hours. The beavercam has been taking snapshots every 20 seconds for about 3 months now (since february.) You can see timelapse for the month of March here...

| Undulations in 3d - Chuck Heron
After visiting the 3d Center in Portland, OR, I was inspired to dig up some old 3d rendering experiments I had done a few years back. A little tweaking (ahem) hear and there… and I managed to put them together to create a pretty good cross-eyed stereoscopic effect. Basically you cross your eyes so that both images overlap in the center. It takes a little practice to focus on the combined image in the middle, but once you do, it's a pretty good 3d illusion...

| New York Skyline Time Lapse March 2008 - Chuck Heron
This is a timelapse of the New York Skyline as seen from our 29th floor apartment. The camera clicked every 30 seconds for two days. It actually ran for 3 days, but I messed up the second day, so this is the day before easter and the day after. You can see the Empire State Building was lit with yellow, pink and green lights the night before easter.. The second night, someone turned on a bright light and you get a little self portrait of the camera clicking away...

| NYC Met Life Tower Clock Time Lapse - Chuck Heron
