As far as I know this is the first commercial recording of The Memphis Blues, dating from July of 1914. 	Dr Clarence Penney - Toots - Dr Clarence Penney Hot ragtime mandolin by Dr. Clarence Penney, "Toots - One-Step" was recorded on August 31, 1914. The piano accompaniment is by Felix Arndt, who also composed "Toots". 	Joseph Moskowitz - Panama Pacific Drag - Joseph Moskowitz The record label describes this performance as a "Cembalom solo (Also Called 'Cembalo', 'Cymbal', and 'Dulcimer')". This is the large, central European-style hammered instrument rather than the smaller rural American-style dulcimer. Joseph Moskowitz was a Romanian immigrant who made his living by playing cymbalom in his own and other's restaurants in New York and Washington DC.
