	Keokea Beach Park, Big Island, Hawaii - Rich Shipley - HawaianRainbow.com Last week I was working on the Big Island and had a chance to cruise around for a couple of days. I visited Waimea, Kealakekua Bay, Pu'uhonua O Honaunau (City of Refuge), Ho'okena Bay. I also drove up to the northern tip of the Big Island, through Hawi and Kapa'au. I really like that part of the island! Along the way, I turned down a side road and went to Keokea Beach Park and decided to get out the video camera and see if I could capture some of the feel of this remote area... 	Kilauea Volcano - T. David Franklin The eruption of Kilauea Volcano that began in 1983 continues at the cinder-and-spatter cone of Pu`u `O`o (high point on skyline). Lava erupting from the cone flows through a tube system down Pulama pali about 11 km to the sea. This video was shot from the ledge of Pu`u `O`o an area that is very unsafe and closed to the public. 	Ahui O Manu - Ryan Kawailani Ozawa A tour of "Ahui O Manu," the vacation rental in Volcano Village we stayed at during our New Year's 2008 trip to the Big Island. Charming, rustic, surrounded by wild ginger, towering Ohia trees, and giant Hapuu ferns, and located on the edge of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. 	Anuenue Playground - Ryan Kawailani Ozawa The cool, green town of Waimea (a.k.a. Kamuela) is home to what could be Hawaii's best playground. Anuenue Playground, an incredible wooden wonderland, was built and is maintained by the entire community. It's a must-visit stop as we pass through on our way from Hilo to Kapa'au. Given the subject matter, there's a lot of shaky handheld camera work here (including an ill-advised trip down a slide), which doesn't necessarily mix with the HD widescreen format... 	Hilo Takeoff - Ryan Kawailani Ozawa A short addition to my kids' collection of airplane takeoff videos. Departing Hilo International Airport (ITO) aboard go! Airlines flight 1039 on Wed., Jan. 2, 2008. It's an unusually clear day for the often gray and wet east side of the Big Island. Despite a dirty window and the glare of the sun, the view of the Hamakua Coast and Mauna Kea is impressive.
