The NASA-French space agency Ocean Surface Topography Mission/Jason-2 satellite launched aboard a Delta II rocket from Space Launch Complex 2 at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., at 12:46 a.m. PDT. Fifty-five minutes later, OSTM/Jason-2 separated from the rocket's second stage, and then, unfurled its twin sets of solar arrays. The OSTM/Jason-2 satellite will embark on a globe-circling voyage to continue charting sea level, a vital indicator of global climate change...

[movies]Takeoff - Ryan Kawailani Ozawa
eparting Honolulu International Airport (HNL) aboard go! Airlines flight 1034, bound for Hilo (ITO). This short clip was recorded by request from Zac, who loves watching my last go! Airlines video just for the takeoff sequence. Even though low clouds and a dirty window made things a little hazy, I think it looks pretty good in 720p HD.

[movies]Hilo Takeoff - Ryan Kawailani Ozawa
A short addition to my kids' collection of airplane takeoff videos. Departing Hilo International Airport (ITO) aboard go! Airlines flight 1039 on Wed., Jan. 2, 2008. It's an unusually clear day for the often gray and wet east side of the Big Island. Despite a dirty window and the glare of the sun, the view of the Hamakua Coast and Mauna Kea is impressive.

[image]Discovery Roars Toward Orbit - NASA
Space shuttle Discovery roars off Launch Pad 39A on the STS-119 mission atop twin towers of fire that light up the sky after sunset at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Liftoff was on time March 15, 2009 at 7:43 p.m. EDT. The STS-119 mission is the 28th to the International Space Station and the 125th space shuttle flight. Discovery will deliver the final pair of power-generating solar array wings and the S6 truss segment...
