![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | Aural Perspectives on DNA - Volume 1 - Greg Fox An ongoing project for 2007 by Greg Fox investigating possible ways to aurally model DNA/RNA codons. This first volume relates to a chordal approach: There are 64 codons, coding for 20 amino acids. The 20 amino acids translate in this model to a ten-division equally tempered octave with one major and one minor chord per pitch-class. (*) The pitch-class order of the amino acids is determined by their molecular mass so that the lightest, Glycine, is followed downwards in pitch by Alanine and so on... ![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | Easter SETI - Greg Fox This is perhaps the final installment of the ongoing saga of aural planetary modelling commenced with "Carmen of the Spheres". Here, I'm applying the model to exoplanets, specifically those of Mu Arae and 55-Cancri. The workings zipfile contains preliminary material such as sequences of tones and individual chords. For more information about the literal empirical approach to aural modelling of planetary systems, please refer to my Internet Archive work "Carmen of the Spheres"... ![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | Jupiter Carnage - Greg Fox This is the new November 2006 piece by Greg Fox, centred around aurally modelled moon data from 63 known moons of Jupiter. Unlike the "Carmen of the Spheres" series, the compositional structure of this piece is far less rigorous and more intuitive/improvisational. The pitch material and some of the duration material is still drawn from "the real world" in the same way, but is used more freely in a kind of "action painting" type of structuring, largely by visual intuition according to personal ta... ![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | Stain Class and Penuflection - Greg Fox This is the final CD of 2006 from Greg Fox. It's a further exploration of equal temperament tunings, some of which span a range of five octaves in this collection. Soundfonts are provided in SfArk format (ie. SF2 but compressed) The piece is 79 minutes long and is divided into two main categories: "Penuflection", which consists of two longish chunks of reflective, low-density music, and "Stain Class", which consists of two longish chunks of almost tonal, high-density music... ![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | Des Éléments - Greg Fox A greedy reductionist approach to composition in which all musical phenomena are merely emergent properties of the system. Each element is simply one sine wave of an arbitrary (and randomly derived) pitch sounded for an arbitrary (and randomly derived) period followed by an arbitrary (and randomly derived) period of silence. The elements form a "construction kit" which can then be used to make music following the "Open Source Audio" model (for more see "Malhaus" by Greg Fox from 2006)... ![[audio]](/images/mediatype_audio.gif) | oneToSixteen - John David Hill A sinewave with a duration of one second and a frequency of 1hz was taken and repeated five times. On each repeat the frequency of the sound was increased by the double of the previous frequency (giving 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16hz). The series of notes produced was then repeated once in reverse and played back at double speed. This series was then repeated five times. With every repeat the series was sped up to double the speed of the prevoius repeat resulting also in an increase of pitch similar to the...
