Fiddle solo, unknown - piano, Decca 12220. This was Paddy's last 78 of the 30s; he would release a few more in the late 40s/early 50s, some of which were compiled onto an LP, Memories of Ireland. Coleman also recorded this big version of the tune, as did piper Tom Ennis (whose recording is available on this site). Paddy's unusual AE double stop in the fourth part is a nice touch to this sprightly performance.

Fiddle solo, unknown - piano, Decca 12145. A medley which is occasionally recreated by Killoran fans. Paddy's wife was from Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare, and the well-known fiddler Junior Crehan remembered Paddy playing these reels on visits to his wife's hometown, they being great favorites of his. These tunes were popularized by this record as well. Sean Maguire's father had a different and very nice reel he called the Gatehouse Maid as well.

Fiddle solo, Jim McGinn - piano, Decca 12095. The first is a nice punchy jig, a bit like a Clare tune called Old Tipperary. The second is the familiar Rambling Pitchfork, which Paddy renamed for this disc after a small town in south Sligo. Fiddle duet, unknown - piano, Decca 12131. Two lovely polkas, of what is sometimes called a Northern style, as opposed to the more punchy style of Sliabh Luachra. Many early polka compositions seemed to have this floating quality, with long held notes. The first tune was recorded by James Morrison as the Return of Spring. The two Paddies here rename it in honor of their recording company, who was commendably liberal in recording traditional Irish music in the 1930s.
